the 40 days of trumpmas - a surreal serial poem

the 40 days of trumpmas - a surreal serial poem

Remember, remember! The fifth of trumpvember

the 40 days of trumpmas - a serial poem

for 40 days the trumpeter reigns,

his lies and hate on whom he disdains,

but election day will come so soon,

we'll no longer hear the orange baboon;

in 39 days full of world wide problems.

we could elect him to get rid of the muslims,

but as he'll rant on trivialities of his presidential life,

what could be worse? - you could be his wife;

in 38 days just what will you do?

the donald has said he likes lgbtq,

but as he bullies his women and all his men too,

if youre questioning, what stops him from bullying you?

in just 37 days, some people are saying,

(or pleading or hoping or some even praying)

the duke of prunes will dye his forelock purple my friend,

and thus make america grape again,

our days are down to just 36,

before our problems the don will fix,

he will on day one do what hes said - true,

he'll wall out our enemies - and fat women too!

on the 35th day of trumpmas

yes just seven weeks remain!

will the polls and tallies deliver us

donald with his golden mane?

34 days and the vice-pipers have piped,

though pence didnt say why donalds suit shouldnt be striped,

he wouldnt defend his master's string pulling,

to make america great? - who do they think they're fooling?

just 33 days till the macho tornado,

unless its blown away by hurricane machado,

with women and voters he has so much to loose.

keep your mouth shut donald (unless youre changing your shoes)

32 days and we’ve been hit by the big blowhard,

donald spoke here in fla (oh, we had a hurricane too)

this administration gives us playing the race card, a weak economy, and unemployment

but if you want a job you could be donald’s campaign manager (unless youre a jew)

31 days, just a month, remains;

will the donald say hes sorry, and his baser impulses restrain?

or keep blaming bill clinton for our moral demise;

when trump speaks to us, our NO votes must be our replies!

election comes this time (in 30 days) each 4 years,

time for praise and tears and fears;

as polls will open in many states,

vote early, please dont vote late!

down to 29, just a leap february,

and theres still the donald quite

contrary;

donald donald, how does your garden grow?

quoth the master debater, "with pretty maids groped in a row"

just 28 days - later or soon,

and the zombies will rise, led by the big goon;

unless everyone gets a reality inoculation,

i might have to move to canada for a well deserved vacation;

now just 27, less than 4 weeks,

no time for you to say 'yikes!' or 'eeeks!'

obama wants to go to mars and colonize it for man,

lets send trump tomorrow! and colonize it for orangutan!

26 days are all that remain,

will our democracy and economy go down the drain?

if we all keep listening to the blustering oaf,

will he give jobs and prosperity? - or just half a loaf

25 days - will more women speak?,

of the antics of donald who the presidency seeks,

dating 14 year old girls or groping their mothers,

how did the gop pick him over the others?,

24 days - were down to two dozen,

the next woman who speaks just might be your cousin,

or mother or sister, aunt, niece, even daughter,

describing the circumstance in which donald caught her,

23 days left and trump doesnt yet have as many accusers,

as cosby, but he assures us that they are all really losers,

sent by bankers or hillary with secret agendas,

to disrupt our election of him - our defender!,

22 days and we know charity begins at home,

but donalds attention is so prone to roam,

his gift that disappeared to 911 survivors from his foundation?,

oops! maybe donald spent it on a vacation,

21 days and trump says the election may be rig-ly,

if hes not the winner and his total's not big-ly,

tremendously higher than hillary gets,

he warns his supporters may all lose their wits,

20 days left and while george zimmerman still walks free,

the man who shot at HIM got 20 years - while trayvon got eternity,

trump wants us to support our cops and maintain law and order,

he'll put all the inner city dwellers in jail, and send the immigrant criminals far across the border,

19 days left till we all go to pretend,

to elect someone to lead us, as if on it our lives depend,

but wise man, donald trump, already really knows,

who we really voted for - a wolf in president's clothes?,

18 days and we bad hombres demand a rebate,

on the ill feelings left since the comments of one candidate,

the debaters have met in their final grudge match,

but only donald can say from whose hands victory will be snatched,

17 days and our government is corrupt with quid pro quo,

did you take latin at wharton? is that how you know?,

donald wants us to fire at them all - the bureaucrats lined up in rows,

and believe me, corruption is a subject. that donald really knows,

16 days - lets set term limits on all our office holders,

and put all our women in binders - or maybe in folders,

donalds endless complaints are becoming a sour whine,

have a little cheese with that, from wisconsin, where

hillary's doing fine,

15 days and on stocking covered thighs did linger,

two miniature hands with two thumbs and eight tiny fingers,

they belonged to the donald who believed that he owned,

any thing that he wanted - or anyone he got alone,

14 days yes only two weeks,

till the duke of orange assends to the throne he seeks?,

to rule all americans, the strong and the weak?,

and dominate the globe with power that's peak?,

the 13th day to go - does that seem unlucky?,

not for donald whos lately been appearing quite plucky,

claiming media, polls, and parties are against him,

and rallying his multitudes with wit waxing dim,

on the 12th day of trumpmas donald awoke with a jerk,

promptly fired his latest campaign manager (who considered that a perk),

if youre "AAAfroAAAmurikan" and unemployed i can put you to work,

barked donald the businessman from behind his sly smirk,

it's the 11th and engineer casey trump is in the caboose,

i hear some of you saying oh no! what's the use,

our campaign will probably just go off the tracks,

but donald says its ok - cause he's got "the blacks",

just ten days left yes only one-zero,

til donald is hoping that he'll be your hero,

as new hillary emails come under investigation,

donald hopes to rename camp david to camp donald for

his vacations,

like a cat has nine lives we're left with only 9 days,

till we're subject to donald? and his old wicked ways,

on foreign affairs he says he'll save us from isis,

but his domestic affairs are misogyny and crisis,

our days are numbered - yes only eight,

till once again we make america great,

by getting rid of candidates who have nothing to add,

goodbye donald you wont make america sad,

just one week to go - its day minus seven,

till america's lifted above - to trumpty dump heaven?,

where for rich folks like donald opportunity abounds,

and we keep the working poor with a wall that surrounds,

how the time it does fly its already day 6,

till americans problems the donald will fix,

his solutions begin on trumpday number one,

dont you like them? they'll come at the barrel of a gun,

Five days to go, baby, One in five,

No one here gets out alive, now,

david dukes not opposed to all jews,

he backs trump - who are you going to choose?,

only 4 days left till the armaged-don,

he'll seize power by the horns once he has won,

and donnie will be what he longs for - a winner,

using the FBI to wreak havoc on hillary the sinner,

only three left, just a triad of days,

and the donald his supporters continues to amaze,

with hoopla and folderoll made up in his head,

his winning temperament will leave us all dead,

just a pair of days - 2 - till trump paradise,

since these words you're reading please heed my advice,

the creatures that surround us are beginning to bite,

'blacks for trump' fear the Illuminati so lets turn out their light,

just a single day left till our thanksgiving,

deliver us from donald and preserve the living,

forget sanity and disgard your misgivings,

but pray hard to your gods that they'll be forgiving,

since we've got the nukes why can't we use'em?,

on the road to 2016 why couldn't we lose HIM?,

and trumpmas now has finally come,

the tallies will count up to a winning sum,

unless the earth is struck soon by a cataclysmic comet,

to elect a candidate who just makes you want to vomit?,

we wish you a merry trumpmas at this time each 4 years,

if you have'nt voted you've lost the chance to mitigate your fears,

cause donald duck is ready to lead, forget your crocodile tears,

so you'd better get the vaseline and lubricate your rears!

Killing of Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine 2026-07-13 • Biddeford, Maine (Pool Street / Hill Street)

Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, a 26-year-old man originally from Colombia, was shot and killed on the morning of 13 July 2026 during a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation in Biddeford, Maine. Senator Angus King said Guerrero was not the operation's target; his wife and young daughter were at the scene, and the agents wore no body cameras. It is at least the 11th fatal shooting involving ICE or Border Patrol agents this administration; the FBI is expected to investigate.

Rep. Max Miller denounced by Sen. Bernie Moreno, his former father-in-law

“I believe Max Miller needs to seek professional help to end the clear pattern of abuse he has left in his wake,” the senator said.

Sen. Bernie Moreno, the father of Emily Moreno who made allegations of domestic and child abuse to her ex-husband Rep. Max Miller, denounced the Ohio Republican for the first time Sunday, calling for him to exit the House.

“‘He should not serve in the House of Representatives,” the Republican Ohio senator said of Miller in a post on X. “I believe Max Miller needs to seek professional help to end the clear pattern of abuse he has left in his wake. I believe he should not be free to continue endangering others until he does.”

Miller quickly responded on X shortly after, calling the senator’s comments “political.”

“If my daughter said the same thing to me, I personally wouldn’t wait two years before holding him accountable,” Miller said in a response on X. “You know this isn’t true and the only reason you are speaking out now is to hide from your own media circus.”

Bernie Moreno’s statement comes after Miller made a public video on Sunday morning, attempting to clear his name from allegations of domestic and child abuse that he denies. He argued that his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, faced serious mental health challenges and posted a dropbox with documents he said would be further evidence to defend him.

“Just want to be clear: no court, no agency has ever substantiated any allegation of abuse against me. No criminal charge has ever been filed against me,” Miller said on a livestream on Sunday. “Every single one of these allegations were already investigated, and I cooperated fully every single time because I had nothing to hide and I have nothing to hide now.”

In a statement, Emily Moreno’s spokesperson Stefan Mychajliw said it was “shameful” for Miller “to go on a bizarre and lie-filled rant about his ex-wife to desperately try to save his political career.”

“There is a documented trove of evidence that Miller has a history of violent and dangerous behavior and no amount of victim shaming will change that,” Mychajliw said in a statement on X. “It is despicable and abhorrent that Miller lied on an unhinged and humiliating video for their daughter to watch one day.”

He added, “No loving parent would have ever used their daughter as a PR pawn to save their own political career. Miller can lie and spin on X, but he cannot do so under oath in a court of law. We are confident that justice will prevail in court.”

New details on allegations that Miller poured hot water on Emily Moreno, held a gun to her head and broke his daughter’s collarbone have drawn attention to his Ohio House race.

Miller attributed the accusation of pouring hot water on his ex-wife to “horseplay in our kitchen,” when he sprayed water from a sprayer attached to the sink. He also pointed to past comments from Emily Moreno that Miller had never harmed their daughter and that she had offered to cook empanadas and go to the playground with Miller after the alleged abuse.

“My former wife would not have been offering to cook me dinner and inviting me to playgrounds,” Miller said. “And I certainly would not have joint custody of my daughter.”

Sunday’s statement is the first from Bernie Moreno directly weighing in on Miller ahead of Wednesday’s deadline to put someone else on the ballot. Miller has made no indication he’ll drop out of the race, and Democrats now see the district as a potential flip opportunity.

Republicans, meanwhile, have largely been silent, and previously, Bernie Moreno himself had made few comments on the incident, noting in a statement through a spokesperson he doesn’t “litigate these matters in the media” and that his “top priority is the safety and well-being of his daughter and granddaughter.”

But he went further than he had before with his statement following Miller’s extensive comments on Sunday’s livestream, writing in his X post, “It has been horrific to watch this play out in full public view.”

“Our priority has always been protecting our daughter and our granddaughter,” Bernie Moreno said. “Out of concern for the safety of my family, I hoped to keep this matter private but Max Miller’s increasingly erratic and dangerous behavior has made that impossible.”

He added, “As he has admitted privately, Max Miller needs serious psychological help. He is a danger to my daughter, and I hold my breath every minute he has custody of my granddaughter.”

In addition to denying the allegations, Miller has sued Emily Moreno and her lawyer for defamation. Emily Moreno’s lawyer also filed a restraining order against Miller this week.

In the livestream, Miller once again argued that his ex-wife has “medically diagnosed” mental health challenges and that each of the allegations comes from her. He said he is “not raising that to embarrass her, to attack her” but that he hopes “she received every bit of care and support that she needs.”

“My former wife is engaging in a pattern of reporting incredible, serious, and destructive allegations with absolutely no evidence,” Miller said. “Every one of these allegations was investigated.”

He also blamed the media and encouraged reporters to look at the dropbox with documents.

“The left-wing media already has a narrative that’s chopping it up into reality for them. So I’m going to use my platform to share the facts in this very genuine way,” Miller said in a livestream Sunday morning.

Coming from a wealthy, prominent Cleveland family, Miller got his start doing advance work for President Donald Trump on his 2016 and 2020 campaigns. He was elected to Congress in 2022 to represent the suburban Cleveland district — where he has since been a vocal critic of Speaker Mike Johnson.

Miller also previously faced accusations from former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham, which he has denied through an attorney.

One December afternoon, the sky tore open and a fiery hunk of metal, wider than a school bus, came hurtling down.

It was louder than a thunderclap when it plunged into a patch of farmland, startling everyone in the village of Mukuku, about three hours south of Nairobi, Kenya.

“People were thinking this is the end of the world,” said John Mukunuu, who lives nearby.

When the villagers arrived, they found a giant ring, taller than a man and heavier than a horse, lodged into the earth. They watched it cool from a glowing ember to a dull gray. They guarded it, taking the occasional selfie, until officials from the capital swarmed the village.

The ring had once connected parts of a rocket. It was supposed to have burned up on its return to Earth.

“This is an isolated event,” the Kenya Space Agency said in early 2025.

Not exactly.

More space debris is raining down on Earth than ever before — one effect of the frenetic race among governments and companies like SpaceX to reign over the skies.

Last year, the U.S. Space Force issued alerts for nearly 820 objects entering the Earth’s atmosphere. The government issued alerts for 110 objects a decade ago.

“The re-entries happen each and every day,” said Mariusz Slonina, who heads space situational awareness operations for the Polish Space Agency. Huge objects weighing a metric ton or more arrive about once a week, he said.

Much of the debris incinerates in the atmosphere or splashes into the Pacific, but when it does not, it plummets to the ground, uncontrolled and unpredictable.

The more objects humans launch into orbit, the more debris they will have to dodge on Earth. More than 300 rockets launched last year, nearly four times as many as a decade ago. That means many more bits and spent parts are expected to drop back.

Want to stay updated on what’s happening in China and Kenya? , and we’ll send our latest coverage to your inbox.

Dying satellites are another common detritus of this space age. A good number of the roughly 16,000 satellites in orbit will ultimately come back to Earth.

In 2024, discarded hardware from the International Space Station crashed into a Florida home. Early last year, part of a SpaceX rocket landed near a busy shopping mall in Poznan, Poland. Another piece was found near the city’s airport, according to the Polish Space Agency.

Months later, a defunct Chinese satellite barreled down over Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands of Spain. The three-metric-ton satellite sent shock waves across the region before fragmenting and burning in the air.

In October, miners discovered burning debris on a desert road in Western Australia. Recently, giant “space balls” washed ashore on an Australian beach.

The patchwork of regulation governing rocket launches and orbital junk is no match for the pace of space development.

Elon Musk’s SpaceX, which has more than 10,000 satellites in orbit, has applied to launch a million more. Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origins has similar ambitions and Chinese “megaconstellations” are expected to have hundreds of thousands of satellites.

For now, people are more likely to be struck by lightning than by falling space junk. The only documented case is of an Oklahoma woman who was hit by debris in the 1990s. She survived relatively unharmed.

But those odds are shifting. A study for the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration concluded that by 2035, debris from SpaceX satellites alone could kill or injure someone every two years.

The risk diminishes if satellites burn up in the atmosphere, the study concluded. For a while, SpaceX said that all its returning satellites incinerated. Then, in 2024, a chunk of SpaceX metal was found on a Canadian farm. SpaceX, which previously disagreed with the F.A.A. report, did not respond to questions. The company now says that about 5 percent of the mass of some satellites may not disintegrate.

Sean O’Keefe, a Syracuse University professor and former NASA administrator, said: “Humans have a lot of failure of imagination. We just can’t imagine that it will happen to us.”

“All it’s got to do is show up in a major metropolitan area,” he added.

Mr. O’Keefe and other experts say that governments and companies should be compelled to use materials that will fully disintegrate.

No such regulation exists. In the United States, the Federal Communications Commission requires companies to report on the risk of casualties from falling satellites, but the agency mostly focuses on regulating radio frequencies.

The F.A.A., which oversees launches, proposed a rule to regulate the disposal of orbital debris but it withdrew the idea in January after the space industry pushed back.

United Nations treaties govern liability for space debris that hurts people or damages property, but those are Cold War relics with limited scope. The U.N. issued guidelines for space debris in 2007, when there were far fewer satellites. Those guidelines are nonbinding.

If objects are in free fall, even the best rocket scientists cannot accurately predict where they will land or whether they will fully incinerate. A one-minute error in predicting re-entry changes the landing zone by nearly 300 miles, according to the Aerospace Corporation, a nonprofit research group.

In January, for example, a fireball pierced the atmosphere over Europe. It was the upper stage of a Zhuque-3 rocket, out of control after a Chinese firm, Landspace, launched it the previous month.

Space agencies across the world monitored the object for four days. It was so heavy — about 11 metric tons — that they did not expect it to incinerate.

Governments feared that it could plunge into heavily populated areas. British officials told mobile networks to test the emergency alert system.

“The last hours, last orbits were over Europe, and it was really dangerous,” said Mr. Slonina of the Polish Space Agency.

In the end, the debris splashed down somewhere in the Indian or Pacific Oceans.

China’s newest launchpad is in Hainan, an island off the country’s southern coast.

Many of the surrounding drop zones, where debris is likely to fall, are in contested waters in the South China Sea.

Filipino fishermen have for years faced confrontations with the Chinese Coast Guard in these waters. These days, they also have to watch for rocket debris.

The Philippine authorities advise against going to sea whenever China notifies pilots or mariners about a launch from Hainan, said Gay Jane P. Perez, director general of the Philippine Space Agency.

Thirteen rocket pieces, some the size of small boats, have washed ashore in the Philippines in the past four years. Most had markings with Chinese characters or parts of the Chinese flag, the space agency said.

“Before, we were looking at access to the sea. Now we’re even getting rocket debris,” Dr. Perez said.

If the debris belongs to a company or an agency in your country, the local legal system settles the liability questions.

If not, your country will likely rely on U.N. treaties to recoup costs.

The liability convention, for one, gives countries the right to compensation if another state’s space object hurts people or damages property. Another treaty, called the Rescue and Return Agreement, allows governments to be paid for the cost of returning space objects.

But the treaties were written in the early space age, when countries were more concerned about astronauts becoming prisoners of war or technology being stolen, said Rosanna Deim-Hoffmann, who works on law and policy issues at the U.N. Office for Outer Space Affairs.

The terms are now being applied in a more commercial and complex space environment, she added.

“The way the treaty was drafted is not the way the treaty is used nowadays,” she said.

The first step, then, is confirming where the debris came from. That means everyday people are at the mercy of their governments.

In Kenya, the authorities took months to confirm that the ring was a part of a French rocket that had launched an American television satellite. The debris orbited Earth for more than 16 years before crashing, according to the French space agency.

Kenya’s government has not formally requested compensation from France, the French Foreign Ministry said. It also has not shared this information with the village residents, who said that the impact cracked nearby homes, according to Daniel Maanzo, a senator who represents the area.

“The government says they have first to identify the owner of the object, because that’s the one who is the source of negligence,” Mr. Maanzo said.

“That didn’t happen,” he said. “There was no compensation.”
