With this social media post, it appears that trump has announced that we are officially at war with Venezuela.
Apparently, “Venezuela is surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled in the history of South America” and trump has ordered a complete blockade of sanctioned oil tankers leaving or entering Venezuela.
What precipitated this escalation? Nothing new from Venezuela; it is all driven by domestic politics and the quest for power and wealth.
Along with the usual rant about drug smugglers and crimes, trump is demanding that "they return to the USA all of the Oil, Land, and other Assets that they previously stole from us." Not clear how Venezuela stole land or oil from the U.S., but it is probably an excuse to invade it and seize its land and oil.
As for “Venezuela being completely surrounded by an Armada,” it is probably meant to impress his clueless MAGA base and his sycophants in Congress.
It is quite likely that trump will used his national address to the nation Wed night from the White House to rattle more sabres and wag the dog, given all the bad news he has been getting lately on his approval ratings, the losses in off-year elections and the approaching deadline for the Epstein files.
Let’s make sure that the people understand how destructive these actions are for our country, for our economy and for the future of our children.
