Former White House lawyer Ty Cobb warned Friday that the Trump administration’s attacks on its perceived political enemies could lead to impeachment proceedings against top Cabinet officials if Democrats win back control of Congress in November.

“All of those people should be impeached, for sure,” Cobb said in an appearance on “The Beat with Ari Melber” on MS NOW, referring to controversial moves made by Attorney General Pam Bondi, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Host Ari Melber asked if the number of Department of Justice (DOJ) cases against Trump’s political foes, whether in motion or dismissed, would amount to an impeachable offense. Cobb said it would only take one “fraudulent, unsupported indictment that’s brought for personal reasons, political reasons in which the facts are distorted, and the law is abused” to warrant ousting Bondi.

He added that the cases — including recent indictments against New York Attorney General Letitia James, former FBI Director James Comey, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and former national security adviser John Bolton — offer “a wealth of evidence” that could be used were she to be impeached. But, the former lawyer added, it would be “probably difficult to extend” it to her handling of the department.

Bondi’s explosive testimony to Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee last week over the DOJ’s investigation of the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and release of files tied to the probe was met with backlash on both sides of the aisle. Conservative media blasted her over the issue, with radio host Erick Erickson writing on the social platform X that she “should be fired or resign.”

Cobb then focused on Noem and Hegseth, who he believes could also face impeachment. He said the DHS chief’s allegations that two U.S. citizens fatally shot by federal agents amid Trump’s immigration crackdown in Minneapolis last month committed acts of “domestic terrorism” were impeachable.

Democrats have cited these same concerns in calling for Noem to either resign or face impeachment. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) last month threatened that Democrats would move quickly to oust Noem if President Trump did not remove her from power “immediately.”

More than 50 advocacy groups have called for her to be impeached, citing a pattern of conduct including obstruction of congressional oversight, unlawful use of deadly force, targeting of minors and unlawful immigration raids on U.S. citizens.

For Hegseth, Cobb cited claims of war crimes in connection with U.S. strikes on alleged drug-smuggling boats in the Caribbean — where one strike in September left two survivors who were killed after a second strike hit them as they held on to their damaged vessel. The Defense secretary could also face impeachment over “the multitude of classified violations that he has,” the lawyer said, likely referring to his use of Signal.

Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-Mich.) filed articles of impeachment against Hegseth in December, calling the Pentagon chief “incompetent.”

Cobb then suggested that Trump’s agreement late last year to give the United Arab Emirates access to advanced chips, the $400 million jet the administration received from Qatar and proceeds from the U.S.’s first Venezuelan oil sale going to a Qatari bank account could all be grounds for another attempt to impeach the president.

“The facts here are just extraordinary and unprecedented,” Cobb said. “This is not a matter of degree. This is a ripple in the force.”

“And impeachment, however, is a weak tool in the hands of a Congress where you have people like Mike Johnson and others willing to do whatever the president desires and certainly not willing to honor their oaths of office to work for the American people as opposed to Donald Trump,” he added.

Trump, who survived two impeachment attempts during his first term, warned House Republicans last month that Democrats will try to remove him if they reclaim the House in November.

“I’ll get impeached,” he said at a Republican retreat at the Kennedy Center. “We don’t impeach them because you know why? They’re meaner than we are.”

The president added at the time, “We should have impeached Joe Biden for a hundred different things.”
