Alex Jones goes from kissing Trump’s ass to calling for impeachment

Right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones wipes his forehead as he speaks to the media after arriving at the federal courthouse for a hearing in front of a bankruptcy judge Friday, June 14, 2024, in Houston. The judge is expected to rule on whether to liquidate Jones' assets to help pay the $1.5 billion he owes for his false claims that the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting was a hoax. Right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, who has spent more than a decade promoting and protecting President Donald Trump, has now joined the chorus of voices calling for Trump’s impeachment and removal from office.

“The big issue is how to stop Trump. This is a war,” he said during “The Alex Jones Show” on Wednesday. “This is absolutely out of control. I’m calling for it right now: the 25th amendment. Impeachment. Whatever needs to happen to get this front and center, to get control of our country.”

Jones also called for “Nuremberg-style trials” for lawmakers who voted for the recent National Defense Authorization Act, which Jones falsely claimed created a “merger” between the U.S. and Israeli militaries.

Jones has been a booster of Trump since 2016, when he first announced his bid for president and appeared on InfoWars. Traditionally, high-profile Republicans ignored Jones, but Trump—a fellow conspiracy theorist—praised him for having “one of the greatest influences.”

But things have since turned sour between the two—particularly after Trump launched his war against Iran, leading to a very public breakup.

In March, Jones lamented the “gigantic problem” that the war represented and has since criticized Trump for it—while still promoting a torrent of nonsensical and debunked conspiracies about practically every issue under the sun.

Jones then said that Trump’s “brain’s not doing too hot,” urging Republicans to pull their support.

Upset by the criticism from Jones and other former supporters like Tucker Carlson, Trump lashed out by calling them “nut jobs.”

As Trump lost Jones’ support, Jones lost everything. After losing several lawsuits for defaming the victims and families of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, Jones owes more than $1.4 billion and lost control of the InfoWars brand.

InfoWars is now under the control of the satirical publication The Onion, which has already started posting content riffing on Jones’ conspiracies and bigotry.

Here’s a sample:

Jones is still waging a legal fight to avoid paying the Sandy Hook families, while apparently living it up in luxury hotels.

Still, Jones has fallen a long way. And he no longer has the president to pick him back up.

Screw you Mr Jones. Go sit on your pile of cash and leave the rest of us alone. Thanks.

Well at least Mamdani, Avila Chevalier, and the DSA slate, and the far left are on board with Alex Jones on this . Newsflash, there is no merger of the US military with Israel's, that's pure delusion, too bad it's not just the far right that believes this baloney.

Who cares what that despicable creature has to say about Trump. He's was so far up Trump's backside for years that he could no longer see the sun shine now he's losing his mind about what Trump is doing. He shouldn't even be given the time of day, just go away Jones!

During Pres Obamas terms, Christian conservatives were like the black mold growing behind the walls. I never saw them and didn't know they existed; I never joined facebook and the like because I knew it was Orwellian scary for mental health. It was bliss. The ignorance I had was bliss.

You know, I don't hate them or fear them, just shaking my head in pity because they hurt themselves more than anything with Rumpo alienating them into cult think. In a few months you will hear them blaming the libs for forcing them support Orangeanus and voting for him. Just watch.

“To date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have affected a different outcome in the election.”

Describing the massive fraud claims of Trump and his allies, Attorney General Bill Barr said, “It was all bullshit.”

Jones can fully pay off his debt first, then maybe I'll listen to his grievances.

Until then, only his fellow racists and bigots will listen (MAGA) and the real question is, like it is for MTG, how many of those MAGA's will stay home in November? Enemy of my enemy and all that....

I suspect that Jones has seen the writing on the wall and would rather face the future under a Democratic government as someone who recently spoke out against rump than in support of him.

What am I supposed to say? Welcome to reality? What the actual fuck Alex.

I have no faith in Alex Jones solutions to make us any safer for democracy, free from ICE, and a functioning Congress and DOJ.

I think he is as likely to be calling for a more controlling and evil government, that what is really bugging him is trump is not effectively crushing dissent enough, that uppity Blacks and wimmen are still able to cause trouble, and that the Iran war threatens the economy (it does).

Whatever he wants is very possibly worse despite this performative bleating....Vance? C"mon man!

'If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't."

Especially when you realllly reallly want it to be true.

    I will wait and see...

Just like all the MAGAs when the policy will hit them they suddenly open their eyes. He has draftable son that is why.

  12. Comment by suzeli.

Y'know, I suddenly feel the need to buy a whole bunch of Alex's overpriced health supplements. That's all this is. Alex is trying to find himself a new bunch of suckers.

Agreed. The grift faucet has been turned off for Infowars and for Alex Jones....

As I've noted before--many people underestimate how thoroughly the Iran war pissed off the paleocon (i.e. antisemitic) right wing in this country, of which Jones is almost certainly a part.

Nothing in the above sentence should be construed as a defense of Israeli conduct in Gaza and elsewhere. You can rest assured that the paleocon right wing hates Arabs every bit as much as they hate Jews, and if they are shedding tears for Gaza, they are (as Mencken once put it) tears of the crocodile. But hate Jews they do, and attacking Iran at the behest of Bibi was a bridge too far.

"Jones is still waging a legal fight to avoid paying the Sandy Hook families"

I am confident the verdict will end up being

    "He has suffered enough."

  15. Comment by bpollen.

When I see Jones get all worked up, I think "C'mon apoplexy!"

Thanks everyone for the comments! I was struggling with why we still needed to talk about this guy. It's still important to know our enemies!

Our lesson isn't over since this could easily happen again. Joe Rogan may have taken note but the point is we don't have any laws or systems in place to respond in a timely way that prevents terrorism as a result of the prolific rise of disinformation. Fox news should have to play a disclaimer before and after every show that it is not intended to be factual or actual news.

Everything about the ways we try to prevent crime is very punitive and after the fact. Increasing the prison sentence for terrorism doesn't prevent terrorism. For Fox news a fine for slander is just a business expense, probably tax deductible too.

    • Reply by voidstuff.

The Dominion settlement was tax deductible. It seems absurd that a damage award should be tax deductible. Causing damage is a cost of doing business.

  19. Comment by Jim McHenry.

I recall Trump praising him and telling him he will do quite well under his "administration" back in 2016. Just another deplorable sucker that dear leader used and disposed of when he was no longer of any possible use to him.

  20. Comment by Crazy Moderate.

Impossible, Alex Jones could not call for Donald Trump to be impeached, because the Alex jones on Alex Jones Live is an impostor.

The real Alex Jones was blown up in his car by Japanese iodine manufacturer's, who were angry they would lose sales because Alex Jones saw a malaria outbreak coming, and started selling quinine instead of iodine.

I know this may sound sensational, but a guy who calls himself the Jack O' Lantern revealed it to Tim Heidecker on Infowars Live, so it has to be a fact.
