Trump Pardons Corrupt Sheriff After His Own DOJ Bragged About The Conviction
On Memorial Day, Trump announced the pardon of former Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins on Truth Social.
Trump’s own DOJ boasted of Jenkins conviction on March 2025 after he was sentenced to 10-years in federal prison for accepting over $75,000 in bribes in exchange for appointing individuals as auxiliary deputy sheriffs, providing them with official badges and credentials without proper training or vetting.
At that time, the DOJ emphasized the seriousness of Jenkins' misconduct and the breach of public trust.
After his speech at Arlington National Cemetery, Trump issued a full and unconditional pardon to Jenkins, criticizing the Biden administration's Department of Justice and alleged political persecution.
Jenkins is a fierce Trump supporter and has appeared on right wing radio and podcasts advocating for the MAGA agenda. Jenkins has appeared on Fox News and in a video for America First Policy Institute, a pro-Trump think tank that has shaped much of Trump’s administration.
Two men already pled guilty to bribing the disgraced former sheriff for badges which were in turn used to bypass TSA lines, drive in emergency lanes, and other antics.
