Trump Shares Misleading Clips of 2015 Colbert Interview, Claims CBS "Deleted" It

Trump shared a video on Truth Social of footage from his 2015 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, accompanied by the claim: “CBS DELETED this entire episode from their official website. You will not find these segments on YouTube either.”

The post was captioned “You are not supposed to see this video,” suggesting censorship or deliberate suppression. In reality, CBS’s website currently features only episodes from the recent seasons but footage from the 2015 interview remains publicly available on the show's official YouTube channel.

The video Trump shared also featured selective editing that altered the tone of Colbert’s original remarks. In one moment, Colbert jokes, “I want to thank you for running for president… because I’m not going to say this stuff writes itself, but you certainly do deliver it on time every day.” The video, however, cuts off after “this stuff writes itself,” omitting the punchline and making Colbert appear more complimentary than he was.

This kind of framing, pairing false claims of deletion with edited content, mirrors tactics common in online propaganda, reshaping old footage to reinforce new political narratives. This is just one of the latest examples of posting manipulated media to back his MAGA narratives.
