Welcome to Gay USA. I'm Andy Hum.0:34
34 seconds
And I'm Anne Northrup. And in tribute to Shaun Dunn, the great rebellion resistance fighter who threw the subway0:42
42 seconds
sandwich at the ICE officer, I am wearing the t-shirt that honors him with a sort of Banksy image, but throwing the0:52
52 seconds
sandwich. He's on on trial this week and Janine Piro is trying to send him to jail for 6 months. She wanted to do1:00
1 minute
more, but they talked her down to six months.1:04
1 minute, 4 seconds
She's the prosecutor down there, which is absurd. God, so Sean, I'm on your side.1:08
1 minute, 8 seconds
Did Did anything else interesting happened this week? Nothing. Okay.1:13
1 minute, 13 seconds
It's
been a very quiet week. We are going to give you the LGBTQ angles on
election results as voters from coast to coast coast reject Trumpism.1:24
1 minute, 24 seconds
I've been waiting for this and it it happened. Uh Zan Donnie's closing weekend of campaigning saw him1:33
1 minute, 33 seconds
campaigning in two gay bar actually more gay bars than that. Yeah,1:38
1 minute, 38 seconds
we'll show you some of that. Our home home burrow of Manhattan elected a gay president of the burrow.1:47
1 minute, 47 seconds
The
legacy of Dick Cheney. You probably have horrible things to say about
him as do I. But I have a couple nice things to do, too.1:55
1 minute, 55 seconds
Yeah. Okay. I mean, never mind. Don't let me stereotype. Well, hold it. He was a war criminal. He was.2:00
2 minutes
Come
on. You know, but uh you know, he he saw the light a little. The Trump
war on trans health care now threatens health care for everybody.2:12
2 minutes, 12 seconds
And I I can hardly say this story because it is so nonsensical. But the Veterans Administration is making it2:21
2 minutes, 21 seconds
harder for male veterans to get treated for breast cancer because men do get breast cancer, linking it to gender extremism.2:31
2 minutes, 31 seconds
And uh and another horror, Trump is denying student loan forgiveness to2:38
2 minutes, 38 seconds
those who work for LGBTQ organizations to work off their debt.2:43
2 minutes, 43 seconds
Well, that's another lawyer high employment program cuz he's going to be sued like crazy for that one. And uh2:51
2 minutes, 51 seconds
Trump's new refugee cap uh shafts LGBTQ refugees from all over the world. Uh2:59
2 minutes, 59 seconds
unless I guess they're uh Africconers from South Africa, white and English speakaking,3:05
3 minutes, 5 seconds
right? Billy Isish uh donated 11.5 million for the causes Trump is harming climate justice, food equity, and3:14

support and challenges she challenged the billionaires in the room with
her uh who were with her to step up to the plate. We have video.3:24
3 minutes, 24 seconds
It was a Wall Street Journal event.3:26
3 minutes, 26 seconds
[laughter]3:27
3 minutes, 27 seconds
Just another point, J. D. Vance wants his Hindu wife to become a Christian.3:35
3 minutes, 35 seconds
He wants to be president. He can't have a Hindu wife. The Netherlands is on track to have a new prime minister who3:42
3 minutes, 42 seconds
is gay and marks a move back to the center in politics there. And in another stunning development, uh,3:51
3 minutes, 51 seconds
for the first time, People magazine has named a sexiest man alive who is gay.3:57
3 minutes, 57 seconds
And
Tommy Dorfman's debut feature, I Wish You All the Best, follows the
arduous journey of a non-binary teen in Los Angeles. I'll tell you about
it.4:09
4 minutes, 9 seconds
So, look, I I I I'm a shy retiring type who just hates4:16
4 minutes, 16 seconds
to take credit for anything, but I say that with a big grain of salt. But uh I believe I've sat here for many months4:24
4 minutes, 24 seconds
saying the revolution is just waiting patiently to come out and and trample this guy. Uh wait. Yes. Waiting,4:34
4 minutes, 34 seconds
waiting, waiting. And it finally happened.4:37
4 minutes, 37 seconds
When
you take food stamps away from 42 million people, when you have the
money that you could spend, I mean, even with the And you're giving it
to Argentina.4:46
4 minutes, 46 seconds
Exactly. People sort of I mean, people become extremely stressed. Well, it's been building all along. It's been4:53
4 minutes, 53 seconds
building
from the fir It's been building from the first Trump administration,
but it went into high gear this year when he took over again. And from
the first day,5:02
5 minutes, 2 seconds
it's just been uh people sitting there getting angrier and angrier and angrier and more and more frustrated. And they5:08
5 minutes, 8 seconds
finally, in addition to the no kings march and and and skirmishes here and there, they finally had a full official5:17
5 minutes, 17 seconds
way to fight back. And boom, they got him.5:20
5 minutes, 20 seconds
We
were worried that the, you know, the Democratic brand gets low ratings.
So does the Republican brand. We worried that they wouldn't come to the5:28
5 minutes, 28 seconds
Democratic party, but they are voting for the alternative.5:31
5 minutes, 31 seconds
Well, and it doesn't have anything to do with the brand as far as I'm concerned.5:35
5 minutes, 35 seconds
It
was just here is our way to fight back and we are going to go out there
and do it. And we don't care if they call themselves elephants or de or5:44
5 minutes, 44 seconds
whatever they are. They could be giraffes. we're voting for them and we're gonna sweep these people away.5:50
5 minutes, 50 seconds
And
no one fought harder or worked harder worked harder than Zoran Mandani
who just got elected mayor of the city of New York. Now, you know, a
year ago,6:02
6 minutes, 2 seconds
I didn't know who he was.6:04
6 minutes, 4 seconds
Uh, you know, although he showed up at a trans demonstration that I went to in the cold in February and he was just6:12
6 minutes, 12 seconds
there to support, you know, but who who's this?6:15
6 minutes, 15 seconds
All right. in Union Square. He was there. Yeah.6:17
6 minutes, 17 seconds
Right. Right. Um we were there, but we didn't know him.6:21
6 minutes, 21 seconds
Right.
So, but you know, and you've all seen his speeches and and what he's
all about. Uh he's a non-apologetic socialist. He's certainly an6:29
6 minutes, 29 seconds
unapologetic Muslim. Uh you know, he even in his in his speech, he uh quoted Eugene V. Debs, the socialist candidate6:38
6 minutes, 38 seconds
for president, three times in the early 20th century.6:41
6 minutes, 41 seconds
That's how he started his speech. I thought it was hilarious. said, "I can see," quoting Debs, "I can see the dawn6:48
6 minutes, 48 seconds
of a better day for humanity." And he also, it was hilarious,6:52
6 minutes, 52 seconds
he also concluded his two minutes addressed to Trump with the with the line, "To get any of us, uh, you have to6:59
6 minutes, 59 seconds
go
through all of us. Us, us, us is the word with that was not a
two-minute speech. That was No, the two-minute section on Trump." Oh,
okay. Right.7:08
7 minutes, 8 seconds
Uh but the the thing is we showed you last week that Manny had been campaigning with uh Cynthia Nixon and7:17
7 minutes, 17 seconds
Justin Vivian Bond at Meow Mix or the 30th anniversary of the Meow Mix uh uh7:25
7 minutes, 25 seconds
party at the Parkside Lounge on Hston Street here in New York. And very enthusiastic, enthusiastic crowd,7:32
7 minutes, 32 seconds
enthusiastic mom, Donnie. Uh you know, a big party, everybody was happy. But the news media has not been showing that.7:39
7 minutes, 39 seconds
They've been showing him in the streets or or going to more mainstream events.7:45
7 minutes, 45 seconds
Uh but he did not that was not his only LGBTQ event. And on the last weekend of7:52
7 minutes, 52 seconds
campaigning before this election, he went to a party in Brooklyn called Poppy Juice, which is a big famous party uh8:01
8 minutes, 1 second
there. And he gave Here's part of his speech there.8:07
8 minutes, 7 seconds
[cheering]8:12
8 minutes, 12 seconds
How are you doing? [cheering]8:21
8 minutes, 21 seconds
[cheering]8:27
8 minutes, 27 seconds
Thank you to Poppy Juice for creating a space for queer and trans New Yorkers. [screaming]8:37
8 minutes, 37 seconds
[cheering]8:37
8 minutes, 37 seconds
In a city where so much is about struggle, it's so important to have a space for joy. [cheering]8:45
8 minutes, 45 seconds
And I'm here because we got 3 days until the election. November 4th, Tuesday,8:53
8 minutes, 53 seconds
[cheering]8:54
8 minutes, 54 seconds
6 a.m. to 900 p.m. Are you ready to win this race?9:01
9 minutes, 1 second
He's
so conversant and comfortable with LGBTQ issues. Of course, his
roommate in Albany as an assembly member was an outgay state senator. I
mean, he's9:10
9 minutes, 10 seconds
totally comfortable. Trump I mean, was Trump well doesn't make any difference. Cuomo Trump. Uh Cuomo kept saying, "Oh,9:16
9 minutes, 16 seconds
he's
anti-gay because he took a he's from Uganda, you know, and he won't den
he won't renounce his citizenship from Uganda." Of course, try of
course Cuomo9:24
9 minutes, 24 seconds
wants to move to Florida, which is an anti-gay state. Bye bye Cuomo.9:30
9 minutes, 30 seconds
Um
during his acceptance, not acceptance speech, his victory speech, he
gave a shout out to trans people. got a big roar and all I mean the
billionaires9:39
9 minutes, 39 seconds
threw tens of millions of dollars at him and Bloomberg 5 million on his last second. Yeah.9:47
9 minutes, 47 seconds
Disgusting. And of course that's chump change for them. Uh they're just trying to save their low taxes and they failed9:54
9 minutes, 54 seconds
again. What? They don't. And that you know that money could have fed a lot of people.9:59
9 minutes, 59 seconds
Exactly. Instead it's feeding the political consultants who are working for Cuomo.10:05
10 minutes, 5 seconds
So there is great joy in Mudville. Uh mighty Cuomo has struck out, right?10:12
10 minutes, 12 seconds
And uh and I've known that kid since he was 19 and he's always [clears throat] been trouble on gay issues.10:19
10 minutes, 19 seconds
Vote for Cuomo, not the homo. He's he created that slogan for his father.10:24
10 minutes, 24 seconds
You
know, when he was Mario Cuomo's campaign manager, he tried to block the
gay literature. He was very late on same-sex marriage. Yes. when it
finally came to a head,10:33
10 minutes, 33 seconds
he
got it over the finish line. No credit to the, you know, 30-year
movement behind it, uh, the grassroots movement that he had said no to
for decades.10:43
10 minutes, 43 seconds
everything with him was I I I I we're we're and his quote concession speech unquote10:50
10 minutes, 50 seconds
was so bitter and nasty and included things like and we all know that he Mum Donnie or as he calls him Mandami is uh11:00
11 minutes
he's he's for things he's never going to get done and this is all just nonsense. Disgusting.11:06
11 minutes, 6 seconds
Terrible.
Uh but we had there was good news here in Manhattan where wait we had
also the picture of mom Donnie with some of the DJs.11:16
11 minutes, 16 seconds
So
this is again the comfort that he has with all kinds of people really
every he has comfort with all people and he keeps saying that over and
over.11:24
11 minutes, 24 seconds
I I I want everybody except Cuomo. He can go away but the he said I never want to say he says I11:31
11 minutes, 31 seconds
wish him well in uh retirement. I never want to say his name again.11:37
11 minutes, 37 seconds
Exactly. But he truly is a a happy warrior uh as far as we can see.11:43
11 minutes, 43 seconds
Exactly. Like Al Smith and met his wife on uh a dating app and then [laughter]11:50
11 minutes, 50 seconds
had
several weddings including one at city hall that they went home from on
the subway. And there are lovely pictures on Instagram of the two of
them. Anyway,11:59
11 minutes, 59 seconds
uh but here in Manhattan, Brad Hyman, uh our state senator, uh we have a picture of him going to the polls with his12:06
12 minutes, 6 seconds
daughter, uh uh became was elected the president of the burrow of Manhattan. That's a first,12:14
12 minutes, 14 seconds
an outg. and the DA in Manhattan, Alvin Bragg, who is always attacked by the rightwing, he skunked the Republican,12:22
12 minutes, 22 seconds
uh, Ma Marouin, who was a Moms for Liberty member who was an anti-trans activist, and she thought she was going12:29
12 minutes, 29 seconds
to come in cuz, you know, you the right-wing is always bragging on, you know, on on brag, like, oh, he's letting12:36
12 minutes, 36 seconds
everybody out. He's no good on crime. He got like 75% of the vote.12:41
12 minutes, 41 seconds
Well, he prosecuted Trump. That alone should get him 75% of the vote.12:45
12 minutes, 45 seconds
We didn't talk about that too much during the campaign. He should have.12:49
12 minutes, 49 seconds
California Prop 50 passed overwhelmingly and it's [clears throat] going to give Democrats a shot at five more US House seats.12:56
12 minutes, 56 seconds
It counters the Texas, but Republicans are germ ending so fast that they're still a little bit up in that process.13:03
13 minutes, 3 seconds
Well, I'm glad to hear people starting to say, "Look, the I I think the Republicans have just overall uh13:10
13 minutes, 10 seconds
overreached and shot themselves in the foot, but in this gerrymandering, they may be diluting their uh Republican13:19
13 minutes, 19 seconds
districts by spreading them out to try to get more representatives. with this kind of momentum that we saw yesterday,13:26
13 minutes, 26 seconds
I I don't want to overreach myself, but uh it is possible that they are uh uh13:34
13 minutes, 34 seconds
reading this wrong and they are going to lose some of those seats to Democrats.13:38
13 minutes, 38 seconds
Well, it would be nice to have a House of Representatives that actually meets.13:43
13 minutes, 43 seconds
Of course, it's been on vacation for months, over a month, and [snorts]13:48
13 minutes, 48 seconds
during
the shutdown, and it's all about the Epstein files. Well, I'm glad the
Arizona elected representative is suing to get her seat. Uh I13:56
13 minutes, 56 seconds
I don't think that's going to work, but why not? She's an elected representative who's being denied to her.14:02
14 minutes, 2 seconds
House rules. They they always say the body.14:05
14 minutes, 5 seconds
We shall see. But it's one way or another, she's got to be seen.14:10
14 minutes, 10 seconds
That's true. Adam Clayton Pal was thrown out of Congress once and reinstated by a court. That's true. Yes, I remember that.14:15
14 minutes, 15 seconds
All
right. In Pennsylvania, we retained three Supreme Court justices,
keeping the high court in Democratic hands by a 5-2 margin.14:24
14 minutes, 24 seconds
And
that man, I got more emails on that this year than anything else. All
these scary emails about how we were going to lose the those uh Supreme
Court seats.14:34
14 minutes, 34 seconds
It was going to be the end of civilization. More like 60% of the vote out of them.14:38
14 minutes, 38 seconds
Yeah. Well, uh, they did very well, but I I was surprised simply because I'd gotten all these scary emails.14:45
14 minutes, 45 seconds
Let's go to the Commonwealth of Virginia. Abigail Spanberger beat the anti-LGBTQ Lieutenant Governor for governor, uh,14:54
14 minutes, 54 seconds
the first woman governor in Virginia history. [clears throat] That in the Lieutenant Governor's race,14:59
14 minutes, 59 seconds
the gay Republican John Reid lost to Hashmi Gazala, who's the first Muslim woman elected statewide in the country.15:08
15 minutes, 8 seconds
But the homicidal uh attorney general candidate won Jay Jones. Now, poor Jay Jones, he15:15
15 minutes, 15 seconds
texted to somebody something awful. If I had two bullets, uh I I wouldn't use them on Xi or Putin. I'd give them both15:24
15 minutes, 24 seconds
to the Republican head of the House or something, whatever.15:27
15 minutes, 27 seconds
Which
is, you know, a horrible thing to say. But he Everybody goes, the
Republicans all go, he said he wanted to kill. He didn't say it. People
say stupid things on text. Don't do it.15:38
15 minutes, 38 seconds
Basically,15:39
15 minutes, 39 seconds
we
all speak in hyperbole, right? Or I do. But the point is people wanted
him to drop out of the race. I thought for a while he would, but uh he
stuck.15:48
15 minutes, 48 seconds
There was no way to substitute anybody. He he Well, he won. He won. [laughter]15:53
15 minutes, 53 seconds
Oh,
it would have been bad to have Well, look what the Republicans have
forgiven uh Trump in all his horrible, horrible statements for years.16:01
16 minutes, 1 second
I could shoot people on Fifth Avenue and I'd get elected. And he is always uh threatening uh Democrats and calling16:09
16 minutes, 9 seconds
them terrible terrible things in the Gulf of Mexico. And in New Jersey, Mikey Cheryl beat the anti-gay very Butch Jack16:18
16 minutes, 18 seconds
Chitterelli. Chitterelli Chitterelli who really was awful and totally MAGA.16:24
16 minutes, 24 seconds
Well, but he ran some uh interesting ads against her. So the there was some concern, but she's out there now uh post16:32
16 minutes, 32 seconds
election saying, "See, I knew I had it all along and you guys didn't believe me."16:36
16 minutes, 36 seconds
And then in Jersey City, the former New Jersey outgay governor Jim McGrevy uh is in going to be in a runoff with a16:44
16 minutes, 44 seconds
guy
named James Solomon for the being the mayor of that town. And in Nassau
County, the anti-LGBTQ bigot Bruce Blakeman, who's the county
executive,16:53
16 minutes, 53 seconds
prevailed for reelection. But in Georgia, the Democrats prevailed in two statewide races versus Republican17:01
17 minutes, 1 second
incumbents on the public service commission. No, they're statewide races and the Democrats won against incumbent17:08
17 minutes, 8 seconds
Republicans. And that's encouraging for John Oaf. also encouraging in Downington, Pennsylvania, uh the voters17:17
17 minutes, 17 seconds
elected a transwoman, Erica Dusso, a Democrat, uh as mayor of Downington.17:26
17 minutes, 26 seconds
First, uh they said first trans mayor elected in Pennsylvania. Yeah. Well,17:32
17 minutes, 32 seconds
probably. Yes. Uh, but my favorite political story comes from Kentucky,17:37
17 minutes, 37 seconds
which
uh I I thought I would reveal to you for the first time, but Whoopi
Goldberg beat me to the punch earlier today. It was in the City and
State uh17:46
17 minutes, 46 seconds
uh newsletter yesterday. The Secretary of State of Kentucky had to put out a tweet saying that he'd been getting a17:54
17 minutes, 54 seconds
lot
of complaints from voters that the polls were not open in Kentucky. And
he had to inform people. not open because we have no election in
Kentucky. And no,18:06
18 minutes, 6 seconds
you cannot vote for mayor of New York or governor of Virginia in Kentucky.18:12
18 minutes, 12 seconds
People are so crazy. Well, I thought it was a great example of the enthusiasm that has been unleashed uh across the18:22
18 minutes, 22 seconds
country because people, you know, of course they're idiotic not to understand that, but it's a it's a manifestation of18:30
18 minutes, 30 seconds
how hungry people are to go out and vote. The turnout in New York was incredible.18:37
18 minutes, 37 seconds
I mean, it was a contested race. And here's the thing. When you give people something to vote for and not just18:46
18 minutes, 46 seconds
against, they will come out and people were just terribly enthusiastic about Zoran.18:52
18 minutes, 52 seconds
Well, I would say it's ratcheted up by several degrees by what we're going through now and and how absolutely18:59
18 minutes, 59 seconds
disgustingly
horrible, which we will get to in a minute, uh the Trump administration
has been. We want somebody who is going to fight for us.19:10
19 minutes, 10 seconds
Well, we want a return to something resembling normaly where the parties negotiate with each other and not just19:17
19 minutes, 17 seconds
shut the door and uh and try to come up with reasonable solutions to issues like you know opening the government.19:25
19 minutes, 25 seconds
All right, look at your phone. Did Nancy Pelosi say she's not running again? No, we're not doing that story. Not yet.19:31
19 minutes, 31 seconds
All right, so there there are rumors that she is going to retire. We'll see.19:35
19 minutes, 35 seconds
Although I have to say she gave an interview this week and um the when pressed by the CNN interviewer who asked19:44
19 minutes, 44 seconds
you oh wait a minute she No, she said hold it. I want to give the quote. Yeah, I do.19:50
19 minutes, 50 seconds
Trump's just a vile creature, the worst thing on the face of the earth. So then the interviewer goes, "You really think19:59
19 minutes, 59 seconds
he's the worst thing on earth?" And she said, "I do. I really do. I would agree with her.20:05
20 minutes, 5 seconds
Uh
so uh then then there's Dick Cheney who we always he is murdering
people in the uh Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific just randomly.20:15
20 minutes, 15 seconds
Yes. And that's not being stopped. No.20:17
20 minutes, 17 seconds
Uh Dick Cheney. Well, look, I mean,20:22
20 minutes, 22 seconds
in terms of his life record, I mean, he he's the instigator of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He's a war criminal for20:30
20 minutes, 30 seconds
that. I mean, he was the architect of that as the vice president under George W. Bush, but um he also he also guided20:40
20 minutes, 40 seconds
Bush into $2 trillion in tax cuts for the rich.20:44
20 minutes, 44 seconds
Yes. But here's the here's the turnaround. Uh uh you see him there with his wife Lynn, then him, then Mary, then20:53
20 minutes, 53 seconds
Liz. So when Mary came out as a lesbian and Liz was not happy about it, Dick was21:00
21 minutes
completely supportive from the first day from her announcement and never backed down, never equivocated, always talked21:08
21 minutes, 8 seconds
about how he loved her and supported her and uh and did that enough I think to bring Liz along uh eventually. And then21:17
21 minutes, 17 seconds
when Liz uh put up her whole fight against Trump, he was totally supportive of her.21:24
21 minutes, 24 seconds
And
when he was running for vice president, one of the debates uh with
whoever his opponent was, I forget, but um he said he was asked about
same-sex21:33
21 minutes, 33 seconds
marriage and he said u you know what what's his famous quote? You know,21:38
21 minutes, 38 seconds
equality is for equality for everyone or something along those lines. You know,21:42
21 minutes, 42 seconds
it's like that that was his attitude. It wasn't like fullthroated support, but he he Well, it was fullthroated support. It21:49
21 minutes, 49 seconds
just wasn't as explicit as we might have liked it at that moment, but it went on to be completely explicit. And uh you21:57
21 minutes, 57 seconds
know, at some point we have to appreciate people for things like that.22:00
22 minutes
And then um he did endorse Kla Harris for president. He did 24. Voted for him.22:08
22 minutes, 8 seconds
I
spoke to him. I ran into him at a Republican convention that we were
covering. I don't think I have film on this. And I just said, "Oh, it's
Dick22:16
22 minutes, 16 seconds
Cheney."
He was like had been Secretary of Defense. He was in the House from
Wyoming. I said, you know, what about gay rights? I mean, I didn't know
about22:23
22 minutes, 23 seconds
the
daughter. And he said, well, that's something we should be able to talk
about. Why don't we, you know, just, you know, I don't think he wasn't
saying any22:30
22 minutes, 30 seconds
support, but he was he wasn't a he didn't he wasn't Steven Miller.22:35
22 minutes, 35 seconds
He didn't froth at the mouth like that congressman you tried to talk to,22:40
22 minutes, 40 seconds
Dick Army. And Pete Williams was Cheny's press secretary, an outgay guy at the Defense Department. And when Mike's22:46
22 minutes, 46 seconds
Michelangelo Senorelli reported on Pete Williams being gay in 1991, Cheney stood by him at a time when gays were banned22:55
22 minutes, 55 seconds
from the military even though it was a civilian job.22:58
22 minutes, 58 seconds
Right? So, we still uh do not appreciate his wararm mongering and uh and the wars23:05
23 minutes, 5 seconds
he provoked or or you know conducted, but uh but we23:13
23 minutes, 13 seconds
appreciate the humanity of of all of this.23:16
23 minutes, 16 seconds
All right, Halloween is over, but the devil never sleeps. Um, so that the night before the SNAP benefits expired23:24
23 minutes, 24 seconds
for 42 million people, Trump had his Gatsby party at Mara Lago. I mean, it is it's so grotesque.23:32
23 minutes, 32 seconds
It
is. And so overt. And that's one of the reasons I think, see, that's
what I mean by the Republicans overplaying their hand. They could have
done this so23:41
23 minutes, 41 seconds
much differently. They could have for the last year done almost everything they've done but in a different tone and23:49
23 minutes, 49 seconds
in a in a different way that that made people understand their point of view and they just said the hell with that23:58
23 minutes, 58 seconds
and just threw it all at us uh so viciously uh whether it's Russell vaude or vote or uh Steven Miller the the24:07
24 minutes, 7 seconds
anger they showed and the the cruelty they did not have to be so cruel about any of this, but that's what they chose24:15
24 minutes, 15 seconds
and that's why it's getting thrown back at them.24:17
24 minutes, 17 seconds
And the 60 Minutes interview that he did uh was just I mean there were like 21 documented lies and these things and of24:24
24 minutes, 24 seconds
course CBS now under the direction of the right-wing Barry Weiss didn't allow for corrections of any of them on the air.24:32
24 minutes, 32 seconds
Yeah. They told Norah O'Donnell to cool it and not challenge Trump uh during the interview.24:38
24 minutes, 38 seconds
Yeah.
which is really it was just lie after lie after lie. I mean you you
should just put up on the screen this is not true. This figure is wrong.24:47
24 minutes, 47 seconds
Yeah, I like that kind of stuff. And and Rob Shooters column today says Barry Weiss has become such a monster in such24:54
24 minutes, 54 seconds
a
short period of time that she has security escorting her through the
building. It started with just two security people. Now it's 10. 1025:04
25 minutes, 4 seconds
security people escorting get in the restroom when she's around. Oh my god.25:08
25 minutes, 8 seconds
And apparently even though the interview was not that hard on him, Trump is raging um saying he felt betrayed cuz he25:18
25 minutes, 18 seconds
just
want he thought I own CBS now. He wants a coronation where they're just
going to say look at all the wonderful things that you're [clears
throat]25:26
25 minutes, 26 seconds
doing.
You're you're stopping all these wars. You're doing The mistake the
South Koreans made was when they gave him the crown it was25:33
25 minutes, 33 seconds
under glass. If they just put it on his head, he'd have been a lot happier.25:38
25 minutes, 38 seconds
Okay. Um Chuck Schumer uh suggested he's going Do we have to still talk about him?25:46
25 minutes, 46 seconds
Well, just that he says I think we'll file a complaint against 60 Minutes for the way they edited the film since Trump25:52
25 minutes, 52 seconds
got $16 million from from CBS when he didn't like the way they interviewed the uh Harrison.26:00
26 minutes
I don't understand what they would sue for.26:01
26 minutes, 1 second
All right. a uh handful of Oh, no. I'm reading in terms of the shutdown that a handful of Democrats are going to supply26:09
26 minutes, 9 seconds
eight votes for a new short time continuing resolution.26:13
26 minutes, 13 seconds
Is that the one that's supposed to go for a year in exchange for a promised v a promised vote on the ACA tax credits?26:20
26 minutes, 20 seconds
See,
someone a viewer wrote me a very nice note saying, uh, fill me in on
the details of this. I've sort of lost the thread. And I I said, "Look,
the26:30
26 minutes, 30 seconds
Democrats
are not willing to believe these empty promises anymore. The
Republicans say they're going to allow for a vote or or have discussions
or26:39
26 minutes, 39 seconds
Trump says we'll bring them to the White House or whatever. It's all lies. And the minute they hand over these votes uh26:46
26 minutes, 46 seconds
to open up on the basis of this clean continuing resolution, they're, you know, it's going to be Lucy with the26:54
26 minutes, 54 seconds
football. It's going to be yanked away from. to have the vote on the ACA credits first.26:59
26 minutes, 59 seconds
Yes, but that's what the Republicans will not allow.27:02
27 minutes, 2 seconds
Uh so Trump because they're not honest about it.27:05
27 minutes, 5 seconds
So Trump is having we know he's having a war on trans people, but it's now it's on health care in general. Um access to27:13
27 minutes, 13 seconds
gender affirming care for transgender youth will be dramatically restricted under these new proposals from HHS27:20
27 minutes, 20 seconds
um which prohibit reimbursement to any program that treats them. And of that means hospitals have to give up entirely27:29
27 minutes, 29 seconds
on treating uh transgender or their Medicaid and Medicare funding will disappear and they will cave.27:35
27 minutes, 35 seconds
Right? And meanwhile the Veterans Administration uh says that uh men in the military,27:42
27 minutes, 42 seconds
veterans in particular cannot get coverage for breast cancer.27:49
27 minutes, 49 seconds
uh ignoring the fact that men do get breast cancer because well that's that only the woke believe that27:56
27 minutes, 56 seconds
because it's not a reproductive issue with men and the way breast cancer28:03
28 minutes, 3 seconds
treatment is covered for female military people is because it is put in a category of being a reproductive issue28:12
28 minutes, 12 seconds
because
it interferes with breastfeeding. Now, to have to twist yourself into
knots to cover women in the first place and then use that to28:20
28 minutes, 20 seconds
exclude men is uh I could call it nonsensical, but it's insane. Uh so they28:28
28 minutes, 28 seconds
are and at the same time they're claiming that to ask for coverage for men with breast cancer is some kind of28:36
28 minutes, 36 seconds
gender ideology. Uh they're obsessed.28:41
28 minutes, 41 seconds
Uh, by the way, uh, trans awareness week is 1113 through 19 and the trans day of28:49
28 minutes, 49 seconds
remembrance is 11:20. Now, you Google these things. There will be events in your area that you can participate in.28:56
28 minutes, 56 seconds
And
just to further travel along the cabinet table of the Trump
administration, uh, the Department of Defense has something to say about
trans29:05
29 minutes, 5 seconds
troops. Uh, they want, you know, there's a a legal fight going on. Uh the Trump administration said nobody who's trans29:13
29 minutes, 13 seconds
can serve in the military and there are trans people who are suing to stay in the military and that's gone back and29:21
29 minutes, 21 seconds
forth in various courts. It's still under uh consideration, but the defense department now says that trans troops29:28
29 minutes, 28 seconds
who want to keep serving must appear before a board that is evaluating them29:36
29 minutes, 36 seconds
in the clothing appropriate to their birth sex. We have a picture of Logan Ireland, a master sergeant in the Air29:44
29 minutes, 44 seconds
Force with 15 years of service, who said he's been a man for most of his adult life and for almost 13 years of military29:51
29 minutes, 51 seconds
service. They want him to put on a dress. Well, I it made me wonder, does he have to shave, too?29:59
29 minutes, 59 seconds
What is uh female attire in the military? Don't they get to wear pants?30:05
30 minutes, 5 seconds
Can't can't these uh I mean I'm not suggesting anybody cave to this but uh going back to healthcare for a second.30:12
30 minutes, 12 seconds
It's just a humiliation and uh cruelty maneuver by the defense that's who runs it. Yeah.30:19
30 minutes, 19 seconds
Trump is helping a right-wing racist cartoonist Scott Adams who does the Dilbert cartoon. He's a he's a bit of a30:26
30 minutes, 26 seconds
right-winger. So while he lets insurance expire for millions of people, he's30:33
30 minutes, 33 seconds
calling
the insurance company for Scott Adams to Kaiser Permanente to get him
this treatment uh for cancer that he has. And Kaiser Permanente is
saying,30:45
30 minutes, 45 seconds
you
know, we're treating him like everybody else. We're not, you know,
we're not denying him anything special. U he's on track for c certain
things,30:52
30 minutes, 52 seconds
but if you're a right-winger, Trump will go to bat for you. Uh the Department of Justice wants uh the medical records of31:00
31 minutes
all trans kids who are being treated in uh hospitals or wherever. Pennsylvania31:06
31 minutes, 6 seconds
Governor Josh Shapiro uh and 14 state attorneys general uh are filing suit to31:14
31 minutes, 14 seconds
prevent that because why would you hand over your kids medical records to Pam Bondi and Donald Trump? And as Shapiro31:22
31 minutes, 22 seconds
says,
you know, to turn over these things would erode the trust between
doctors and patients and undermine state efforts to use their regulatory
authority to protect that trust.31:33
31 minutes, 33 seconds
Well, this kind of treatment is not illegal. It's not illegal. So, uh why should they have access to these31:41
31 minutes, 41 seconds
records? And they're m they're lying about it and saying it's about genital mutilation. It is not. Well, it now it31:48
31 minutes, 48 seconds
reminds
me I have the story down the line here, but my alma moater UVA struck a
deal with the Trump administration to agree to all their anti-woke a
lot of31:57
31 minutes, 57 seconds
their
anti-woke stuff. But when it came to trans, they said, "Uh, that's
being settled in the courts. So, if they go the other way, we will. But
right now,32:06
32 minutes, 6 seconds
we're gonna protect trans people."32:08
32 minutes, 8 seconds
Yeah. You were a little more hopeful about UVA a couple of weeks ago. No, no,32:13
32 minutes, 13 seconds
no, not particularly. Well, you said they were not caving. They hadn't and they did. [laughter] Okay, that's all.32:21
32 minutes, 21 seconds
Oh, you know, they say they didn't. And people say, "Oh, they they're protecting uh you know, professional integrity."32:27
32 minutes, 27 seconds
And
just in the cruelty thing, uh Trump a court ordered Trump to give food
stamps to people who deserve them. He says, "Fine, I'll give them half."
Uh,32:37
32 minutes, 37 seconds
and the Trump's education department,32:39
32 minutes, 39 seconds
they released a new rule to deny student loan forgiveness to people who work for LGBTQ organizations. It's the public32:48
32 minutes, 48 seconds
service loan forgiveness program that many people use. Um, but the administration wants to cut them off. Um,32:56
32 minutes, 56 seconds
only Yeah.32:56
32 minutes, 56 seconds
Hold
it, hold it, hold it. Here's the quote from them. The public service
loan forgiveness program was meant to support Americans who dedicate
their careers to33:05
33 minutes, 5 seconds
public service, not to subsidize organizations that violate the law,33:10
33 minutes, 10 seconds
whether
by harboring illegal immigrants or performing prohibited medical
procedures that attempt to transition children away from their
biological sex.33:21
33 minutes, 21 seconds
There are no words, right?33:23
33 minutes, 23 seconds
I'm just sorry that the Blue Jays lost the World Series.33:26
33 minutes, 26 seconds
Me, too. I fell asleep, but but uh I watched it all, but uh it would have been nice for Canada to be able to say33:33
33 minutes, 33 seconds
they
uh beat the United States and Trump would have had something to say
about that. But I I think they scored a moral victory because they were
expected to lose in four games. Oh yeah.33:43
33 minutes, 43 seconds
Yeah. Oh yeah. They were big huge underdogs. And so the fact that they took it to really the last out of the last uh33:51
33 minutes, 51 seconds
I was awake for the 18 in earlier game because I'm having trouble sleeping.33:56
33 minutes, 56 seconds
I've got a little thing going on by my neck. But so I saw that. It was pretty amazing. Yeah.34:01
34 minutes, 1 second
The
whole thing was pretty amazing. It really was a great World Series. The
Dodgers won that one, too, I think. Yes, they did. Yes.34:08
34 minutes, 8 seconds
All right. The But then they lost the next two. Yeah. Because they were old and tired.34:13
34 minutes, 13 seconds
Okay. Now, there's this immigration refugee cap that the Trump administration is is pushing. Uh, and34:22
34 minutes, 22 seconds
it's going to limit uh refugees to 7,500 people. It used to be 12,000.34:31
34 minutes, 31 seconds
Well, there are 120,000 in line who've been approved who are waiting to come in, but uh Trump is only going to let in 7,50034:38
34 minutes, 38 seconds
and they have to be white and English speakaking.34:41
34 minutes, 41 seconds
It's all the Africconers from South Africa who are so abused by having a black majority government there.34:49
34 minutes, 49 seconds
It's it is insane what they're what I mean the whole world is upside down in their vocabulary.34:57
34 minutes, 57 seconds
They love white people again. Cruel. Okay.35:02
35 minutes, 2 seconds
Um so JD Vance uh is getting in trouble because he's being cruel to his wife now35:10
35 minutes, 10 seconds
along
with everybody else. Uh there they are. That's when they got married.
They weren't particularly religious, but they did a sort of
semi-Christian, semi-Hindu ceremony.35:20
35 minutes, 20 seconds
Then he becomes a Catholic. Yes. So,35:23
35 minutes, 23 seconds
in fact, he's upset now that the administration is criticizing the Pope. All right. It's freaked him out. Really? Yes.35:30
35 minutes, 30 seconds
Oh, he used to be anti-popee. No,35:32
35 minutes, 32 seconds
but
the but the Well, he killed one of them, but now he's But the problem
is the problem is he is learning that on the far right they35:41
35 minutes, 41 seconds
don't like him having a Hindu wife. So he he just says she's not a Christian and has no plans to convert, but like35:48
35 minutes, 48 seconds
many people in interfaith marriages or in any interfaith relationship. I hope she may one day see things the way I do.35:56
35 minutes, 56 seconds
He said criticize I'm the man. I'm in charge.35:59
35 minutes, 59 seconds
You
criticize me for for uh trying to turn my wife into a Christian. You
are that reeks and he spelled it wrong of anti-Christian bigotry.36:11
36 minutes, 11 seconds
They they are geniuses at uh How does she put up with it?36:17
36 minutes, 17 seconds
Well, she's the uh the servant. He is the master.36:22
36 minutes, 22 seconds
That's what it looks like. A little bit further on Leah Smith at Mbury who took her own life, a trans student. Like36:29
36 minutes, 29 seconds
hundreds of other trans athletes, she wasounded on social media for competing in women's sports. They have there's a36:37
36 minutes, 37 seconds
whole website dedicated to this called he cheated and they go after these people and dead name them and you know36:46
36 minutes, 46 seconds
it's just outrageous and she you know I don't know if that's the whole reason but she did take her own life.36:52
36 minutes, 52 seconds
Don't these people have anything better to do with their time in Maine? Maine family planning has had to cut their37:00
37 minutes
primary care services in the state because they have lost Medicaid funding.37:06
37 minutes, 6 seconds
uh that you supposedly lose if you provide abortion services and they37:13
37 minutes, 13 seconds
should not be losing this funding, but that is going to affect everyone who is a client of Maine Family Planet.37:19
37 minutes, 19 seconds
Did we did we talk about your piece on LGBTQ community news? Uh not lately.37:25
37 minutes, 25 seconds
Okay. Um, uh, Ann wrote a piece called breast cancer me and we're going to link to it in our in our email, but it was a,37:34
37 minutes, 34 seconds
you know, it was an educational piece.37:37
37 minutes, 37 seconds
Yes. And uh, I've started a new drug which you may see advertised on TV called Kissquali.37:44
37 minutes, 44 seconds
And the ads are really scary. It's made me a little concerned about the side effects, but I've been taking it this37:51
37 minutes, 51 seconds
week and so far so good. Uh, I am seeing a cardiologist. uh Thursday. That's tomorrow.38:00
38 minutes
I'm seeing a spinal surgeon tomorrow,38:03
38 minutes, 3 seconds
but I'm here doing the show. I can't sleep, but I can sit up and talk.38:07
38 minutes, 7 seconds
Well,
here's the uh thing. I had an appointment with this cardiologist for a
month from now, but I uh said yes, put me on the waiting list for an
earlier38:15
38 minutes, 15 seconds
appointment. And they called me today and said, "We can see you tomorrow." And I said, "Hal oh no, Friday, sorry." I I38:22
38 minutes, 22 seconds
love
this system where they actually pay attention and follow through and
and my doctors have been good about getting me appointments as well, I
must say.38:30
38 minutes, 30 seconds
Yeah. So, we'll we will report our results.38:33
38 minutes, 33 seconds
All
right. Uh now, Billy Isish, she took on Zuckerberg and other
billionaires over their lack of charity. Uh uh when she was at what was
the event?38:44
38 minutes, 44 seconds
It was an innovator awards event put on by the Wall Street Journal with Bezos and all these billionaires38:51
38 minutes, 51 seconds
there. So, here's what she had to say to them and help more than kind of ever where the world is. We're in a time right now39:00
39 minutes
where the world is really, really bad and really dark and people need empathy and help more than kind of ever,39:08
39 minutes, 8 seconds
especially
in our country. And I'd say if you have money, it would be great to use
it for good things and maybe give it to some people that need it. Um,39:20
39 minutes, 20 seconds
and [applause]39:22
39 minutes, 22 seconds
love you all, but there's a few people in here that have a lot more money than me. And uh,39:31
39 minutes, 31 seconds
if you're a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate, but yeah, give your money away.39:38
39 minutes, 38 seconds
Shorties, love you guys. Thank you so much.39:42
39 minutes, 42 seconds
And she's she's donating 11.5 million from her tour to climate justice, food equity, and community support.39:49
39 minutes, 49 seconds
Zuckerberg just sat there stoneface. But you know, uh, what is his name? Mark Zuckerberg. Yes.39:55
39 minutes, 55 seconds
I said, Mark, what profit a man and her at the whole world and loses a mortal soul? Atheist.40:02
40 minutes, 2 seconds
Oh, well. And then Chapel Ran, right?40:06
40 minutes, 6 seconds
Yeah. We talked about her last week. how she's funding this thing. Well, she's doing it, too.40:11
40 minutes, 11 seconds
Uh yeah, 11.5 million from Billy Isish. That is a significant commitment to uh doing good40:20
40 minutes, 20 seconds
in the world. And yeah, what are the Zuckerbergs doing? Nothing.40:23
40 minutes, 23 seconds
Well,
I don't know that they're doing nothing, but I think they drew back
from some of what they were doing uh for fear of offending.40:31
40 minutes, 31 seconds
Well, a lot of that is happening from the corporations, the withdrawing from all the good causes that we support. Yep.40:37
40 minutes, 37 seconds
Yeah.
Uh and there people are withdrawing from the Kennedy Center. We keep
tracking this. Love [clears throat] it. Here it is. A massive dip. Uh in
2023,40:47
40 minutes, 47 seconds
uh you know the uh wait a minute, hold it. Um the average show is selling just over half of its tickets now and most of40:55
40 minutes, 55 seconds
those are being comped for various reasons. Um, it's out of control and uh,41:02
41 minutes, 2 seconds
you know, that's what Trump said, you know, with DEI and everything. Well, now just nobody goes.41:09
41 minutes, 9 seconds
He was going to he [clears throat] was going to make the Kennedy Center hot again.41:13
41 minutes, 13 seconds
[gasps]41:14
41 minutes, 14 seconds
Well, this is the thing. They overreach.41:16
41 minutes, 16 seconds
They do these things they don't have to do. They want to watch him dance.41:19
41 minutes, 19 seconds
Oh god, I hope not. But um, and I'll resist saying what some how someone John Oliver defines that dancing. It's a41:29
41 minutes, 29 seconds
little scene. Yes. Okay. Uh [snorts] or maybe it's Bill Maher.41:35
41 minutes, 35 seconds
But um Oh, I don't watch Bill Maher.41:37
41 minutes, 37 seconds
No, I gave him up. But he one of them had a good Okay. At HHS, the anti-LGBT, they're very anti-LGBTQ.41:48
41 minutes, 48 seconds
Alex
Adams, who directs uh the Administration for Children and Families, has
ordered California and other states to review where necessary41:56
41 minutes, 56 seconds
and amend policies that are in designed to ensure LGBTQ foster youth are placed in affirming homes. They want to end42:03
42 minutes, 3 seconds
those
policies. States say you shouldn't be shouldn't be taking in kids if
you can't affirm their identities and they don't want that.42:12
42 minutes, 12 seconds
Good news from Oklahoma where LGBTQ youth who turn out to be quite bright uh42:20
42 minutes, 20 seconds
are feeling relieved after Ryan Walters stepped away from his job as the state school superintendent.42:28
42 minutes, 28 seconds
There is that puts. He's now taken a a job to attack unions. I'm surprised he wasn't made secretary of education.42:35
42 minutes, 35 seconds
Well, the don't uh don't give up on it yet, but hotline calls in Oklahoma by those youth to, you know, help stress.42:45
42 minutes, 45 seconds
Yeah. Uh hotlines have fallen. 36%42:50
42 minutes, 50 seconds
just in the last month since Walters quit. And nearly twothirds of the callers, 64%42:56
42 minutes, 56 seconds
identified
Walters as the source of their distress. According to the Rainbow Youth
Project, you know, you have this maniac out there attacking gay people
constantly.43:06
43 minutes, 6 seconds
Again, totally unnecessary. Also, you know, there's a quite a debate going on in Maine about Graham Platner, the43:14
43 minutes, 14 seconds
candidate uh for Senate against Susan Collins, who looked like a a great hope43:21
43 minutes, 21 seconds
downto-earth oyster farmer, whatever vet uh who was going to go against her. And then uh turned out he was had a Nazi43:30
43 minutes, 30 seconds
symbol tattoo and had said some pretty horrible things over the years,43:33
43 minutes, 33 seconds
particularly homophobic things. Uh but then he apologized for all of that and covered up the tattoo. So some people43:40
43 minutes, 40 seconds
love him, some people don't. Uh Janet Mills has gotten into the race, the governor. Uh a gay candidate, too.43:48
43 minutes, 48 seconds
Well, it turn your breath for him. Uh, but Graham Platner and Mom Donnie have the same campaign adviser.43:58
43 minutes, 58 seconds
All right. That's right. That's right.43:59
43 minutes, 59 seconds
This kid, he's 26. I I really hated though Cuomo calling Mom Donnie a kid all the time.44:06
44 minutes, 6 seconds
Um, but he's just pulling out the ammunition.44:09
44 minutes, 9 seconds
Do
we think Cash Patel did something good? Uh in Michigan that the FBI
foiled a plot against LGBTQ bars in the Metro Detroit area, the joint
terrorism fast.44:20
44 minutes, 20 seconds
Even a stop clock is right twice a day. Okay.44:24
44 minutes, 24 seconds
In
St. Louis, update on the cop car that rammed into the gay bar. Uh the
they finally dropped the criminal charges against the gay bar owner.44:35
44 minutes, 35 seconds
Yeah.44:36
44 minutes, 36 seconds
uh because the prosecutors refused to hand over any discovery mostly because there wasn't any and44:46
44 minutes, 46 seconds
uh the civil case against the cops is continuing. The city threatened to close the bar because they had not adequately44:54
44 minutes, 54 seconds
repaired the damage. The bar had not that the police that the police had caused by ramming into it.45:01
45 minutes, 1 second
Oh my god. But the publicity about that made the city back off from closing the bar.45:06
45 minutes, 6 seconds
We had the marathon race in New York this past weekend. And in the non-binary45:13
45 minutes, 13 seconds
marathon division, Daniel Mata was the winner from Jersey City, one of 143 participants45:21
45 minutes, 21 seconds
in a race of 55,000. But it turns out this is marathons across the country are45:28
45 minutes, 28 seconds
adopting these non-binary categories for uh racers who want to race that way.45:33
45 minutes, 33 seconds
I got a correction. Uh we we talked about that church in Dallas that uh painted the rainbow steps45:41
45 minutes, 41 seconds
where there it is. It's so gorgeous. And it's a it's a the correct name is the Oak Lawn Church in Dallas that went45:50
45 minutes, 50 seconds
rainbow, not the Oakland Park Methodist Church. And we thank our viewer Charles for the correction and for the kind words.45:57
45 minutes, 57 seconds
All right. And uh international news.46:01
46 minutes, 1 second
Well, the big news is that the uh Dutch Centrist party leader Rob Jettton, who's openly gay, looks like he's going to be46:08
46 minutes, 8 seconds
the next prime minister of the Netherlands. Um he's the uh he'll be the youngest the first openly gay. There46:16
46 minutes, 16 seconds
have been other openly gay prime ministers elsewhere.46:19
46 minutes, 19 seconds
Well, the good thing is that he's getting rid of the right-wing GE builders. Builders. Yeah.46:25
46 minutes, 25 seconds
Who has been in charge and he's overcoming him. Uh his partner, Rob's partner is a pro field hockey player from Argentina.46:36
46 minutes, 36 seconds
They did a cute little video the hockey player. That's what they did on election day.46:41
46 minutes, 41 seconds
Yeah. They kissed. They run it and let it let it go. Whatever. Whatever.46:45
46 minutes, 45 seconds
It was It was sweet. I mean, it's so just natural, open, affirming.46:51
46 minutes, 51 seconds
Yeah. There's the whole video. We'll show it. There. There it goes.46:55
46 minutes, 55 seconds
This is them getting dressed for election night and they're always posting loveydvey pictures of themselves. And he's the,47:03
47 minutes, 3 seconds
you know, he's the gonna be the prime minister. Um in Batswana uh they had47:09
47 minutes, 9 seconds
they had the first uh Palipier Pride um there in in uh which is the Williamsburg47:16
47 minutes, 16 seconds
of Africa apparently and um it's you know anytime they do a pride event in Africa it's uh it's a story47:25
47 minutes, 25 seconds
a triumph uh in the UK the Labor Party has a new deputy director Lucy Powell47:32
47 minutes, 32 seconds
who is very supportive of trans people and opposes an anti-trans bill that has47:40
47 minutes, 40 seconds
been proposed. Uh and that sort of goes against the party.47:45
47 minutes, 45 seconds
Labor
part has been going on in the other direction. We don't want to talk
about this anymore. Men are men, women are women, you know, and uh she's47:52
47 minutes, 52 seconds
standing
up to that and she's now the deputy prime minister. And Glamour
magazine in the UK, their women of the year cover featured nine trans
women.48:03
48 minutes, 3 seconds
Um, they're sporting US designer uh Connor Ives uh the doll. Protect the doll. Protect the doll.48:12
48 minutes, 12 seconds
Protect the dolls t-shirts.48:14
48 minutes, 14 seconds
And uh that sent JK Rowling into a complete tizzy. Let her roar. [laughter]48:22
48 minutes, 22 seconds
And uh Virginia's postumous book has brought down Prince Andrew. Yes.48:29
48 minutes, 29 seconds
And finally. Yeah. Uh well I think I think what what what what really tempted it well of course she did uh but then King48:37
48 minutes, 37 seconds
Charles
tries to do a walkound and people scream at him get Andrew out of the
house he's a pedto once again once again it is the people48:45
48 minutes, 45 seconds
who have the power and that's what happened that's the whole story here of the elections this week and uh the48:52
48 minutes, 52 seconds
people have just taken that power into their hands when given the chance and have gotten rid of a lot of the cruelty49:00
49 minutes
and they're going continue to because Trump is not going to back down from the cruelty much as he should.49:06
49 minutes, 6 seconds
Yeah. I mean, the thing that emerged right during the week that, you know,49:11
49 minutes, 11 seconds
Andrew got canned was a picture of Gain Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein, and Harvey Harvey49:19
49 minutes, 19 seconds
Weinstein. Yes. At a at a costume party for Andrew's 18year-old daughter in 2005. They're all invited to his house,49:28
49 minutes, 28 seconds
you know, for a costume party. He was totally tight with these people,49:31
49 minutes, 31 seconds
of course. Oh, but the big thing was again from Rob Shooter that uh there49:39
49 minutes, 39 seconds
were sex workers going in and out of the current house of Andrew. That's true.49:46
49 minutes, 46 seconds
Current house. So now they're putting in him in the forest somewhere and I think literally in forest house and forbidding49:55
49 minutes, 55 seconds
any kind of visitors uh like that in the house. Uh Charles just had enough.50:00
50 minutes
Andrew, you're just going to have to take care of yourself. Evidently, he's compulsive.50:06
50 minutes, 6 seconds
And uh I want to point out that uh the horrible Jamaica hurricane, there is a Melissa relief fund launched for the50:14
50 minutes, 14 seconds
LGBTQ community.50:17
50 minutes, 17 seconds
I
would hope for everybody. But Trump, by the way, feels very bad for
Andrew and is angry at the king for drawing more attention attention to
Epstein.50:27
50 minutes, 27 seconds
[laughter]50:28
50 minutes, 28 seconds
I thought you were my friend,50:31
50 minutes, 31 seconds
Donald. Sooner or later, sooner or later, your misdeeds with the Jeffrey Epstein are going to be published.50:40
50 minutes, 40 seconds
All right, AIDS and health news. I want to point out, you know, I'm on the board of the U new alternatives,50:45
50 minutes, 45 seconds
new alternatives for homeless LGBTQ youth, and Kate Barnhart, who I've known since she was 15, is turning 50. She's50:53
50 minutes, 53 seconds
been an activist that long. Well, she was in ACTUP with us as a teenager.50:57
50 minutes, 57 seconds
And
so on November 11th in Hell's Kitchen, they're going to have a we're
going to have a party for her. And you're all invited. I'll the details
will be in our email.51:07
51 minutes, 7 seconds
Uh and uh whether you can come or not,51:10
51 minutes, 10 seconds
you can support New Alternatives with a donation.51:14
51 minutes, 14 seconds
We're we're uh a scrappy organization helping these homes,51:19
51 minutes, 19 seconds
doing very grassroots work for actual people,51:22
51 minutes, 22 seconds
right? and has been very supportive as well.51:25
51 minutes, 25 seconds
Oh, yes. And I I've kicked in a contribution whether I will make it to the party since I'm very anti- party.51:32
51 minutes, 32 seconds
It's always a question, but it's for Kate. Yes, absolutely. Could be fun. Yeah.51:37
51 minutes, 37 seconds
Uh entertainment news.51:39
51 minutes, 39 seconds
Who is the sexiest man alive? Well, this year it's Jonathan Bailey. do know him from uh Fellow Travelers, from Wicked,51:50
51 minutes, 50 seconds
uh from Bridgetgerton, all those kinds of things. And so,51:54
51 minutes, 54 seconds
here's a sexy pick of Jonathan. I wanted to show that to emphasize the sex thing.51:59
51 minutes, 59 seconds
And of course, the scene from Fellow Travelers with uh Matt Bmer. Those were very pretty explicit uh love scenes52:06
52 minutes, 6 seconds
between
men which we haven't se we don't see too much. So congratulations to
Jonathan who was kind of gobsmacked that they picked him.52:16
52 minutes, 16 seconds
A number of people were but he is the first gay man picked for this great honor. [laughter]52:24
52 minutes, 24 seconds
But he has a very cute dog who you will also see in the pictures if you uh look a little online. Well, it's progress.52:31
52 minutes, 31 seconds
Yeah. All right. You want to talk you want to tell us about this Iago Sin City Classic?52:36
52 minutes, 36 seconds
Yes. Uh well, I was involved with the Gay Games in New York 30 years ago. Great uh52:44
52 minutes, 44 seconds
organization, great uh event, tens of thousands of participants because unlike the Olympics, which are very exclusive,52:52
52 minutes, 52 seconds
only the top athletes, uh this these events are always open to all. And so this is a uh a tournament in Las Vegas,53:02
53 minutes, 2 seconds
the Sin City Classic, an annual event over Martin Luther King weekend next year uh January 15th through 19th.53:12
53 minutes, 12 seconds
And
registration has just opened for that. Uh so if you go online and look
for the Sin City Classic, you will be able to find that. 24 different
sports,53:23
53 minutes, 23 seconds
10,000 athletes expected. Uh it should be a fantastic event in Las Vegas next53:30
53 minutes, 30 seconds
January and uh there's golf in it and lots of other things.53:36
53 minutes, 36 seconds
So the nonbinary actor we know Tommy Dorfman uh uh who has directed their53:44
53 minutes, 44 seconds
first film feature film. It's kind just come out. I wish you all the best. And it follows the arduous journey of a53:51
53 minutes, 51 seconds
non-binary teen in Los Angeles, played by former Disney star Corey Fogelmus.53:58
53 minutes, 58 seconds
Um, thrown out by his fundamentalist parents, taken in by his sister, embraced at a liberal school.54:04
54 minutes, 4 seconds
Their sister, their uh non-binary, use they them pronouns. Maybe there comes to use the term they in the film.54:15
54 minutes, 15 seconds
That's part of the story. Got it.54:17
54 minutes, 17 seconds
All
right. and embraced at a liberal school and even finds love, but not of
course without a lot of conflict and stress and depression and
rejection.54:26
54 minutes, 26 seconds
Lena Dunham pops up as a quirky art teacher and mentor and it's the debut feature for Dorfman.54:35
54 minutes, 35 seconds
Okay, I recommend it.54:37
54 minutes, 37 seconds
And this is going to be in theaters or online? Theaters. Theaters. Okay. All right. So, uh, uh, here it is,54:45
54 minutes, 45 seconds
election week, and, uh, we've come to the end of our list of stories with three minutes left.54:50
54 minutes, 50 seconds
Well,
we, you know, we skip over a lot of details so we can get everything
in. I have to say, you know, both of us are, you know, in terrible shape
these days,54:58
54 minutes, 58 seconds
but
our spirits have been lifted so much by seeing the victories around the
country and especially the election of Zoran Mdani, which is just
amazing.55:11
55 minutes, 11 seconds
Well,
I you know I one of the reasons for me to do this show is that it does
energize me on a weekly basis and that's been true all along for the
almost 30 years I've been doing this with you.55:21
55 minutes, 21 seconds
Yes. Almost 30 years and Andy an extra 10 years. Uh so yes this good news is55:30
55 minutes, 30 seconds
very
energizing but just the ability to sit here and uh talk about the news
and and bring people information is uh inspiring and and energizing.55:40
55 minutes, 40 seconds
It gives us a sense of agency.55:43
55 minutes, 43 seconds
It well it makes me feel like I'm uh in the mix. Uh, one thing I liked about being a member of ACTUP for all those55:51
55 minutes, 51 seconds
years was that I felt I was on the front lines of what was happening, that I was where the action was. And uh,55:58
55 minutes, 58 seconds
I
miss the movement groups when we all used to get together all the time.
Of course, ACTUP did that. Coalition for Lesbian and Gay Rights, we did
that.56:05
56 minutes, 5 seconds
That was my social life. Also, there's less of that of in-person meetings going on. I have for years begged people to56:14
56 minutes, 14 seconds
have in-person meetings when they want to do it online or or by social media or whatever. And uh you know I guess it56:22
56 minutes, 22 seconds
mostly started with COVID and everybody retreating to their own bedrooms. But um but I think there's no substitute for56:31
56 minutes, 31 seconds
meeting face to face. Gloria Stein have always said that you really have to meet people face to face to understand them. And it56:39
56 minutes, 39 seconds
doesn't matter whether it's three of you or 300 of you. It's uh it's just the act of getting together and being able to56:46
56 minutes, 46 seconds
hash stuff out in person rather than you know it's much harder to do on a Zoom meeting to have a real conversation. And56:55
56 minutes, 55 seconds
and so if any of you are involved in any kind of activity, meeting on in person is a much better way to do it.57:02
57 minutes, 2 seconds
There is no salvation outside the church. That's an old expression. No,57:06
57 minutes, 6 seconds
but what it means is you need community to do things. I'm not for church. I'm an atheist, but uh that's the deal.57:15
57 minutes, 15 seconds
Yeah, even the Kentucky voters wanted to be involved. [laughter]57:19
57 minutes, 19 seconds
I'll
never get over that. I think that's the fact that they wanted to vote
in other ele. It's on the news. Can I make a can I vote? [laughter]57:28
57 minutes, 28 seconds
Yeah.
And and you know, not not analyzing who they were going to vote for.
You'd like to think they were energized by Mom Donnie and Spanberger,57:38
57 minutes, 38 seconds
but or stopping them.57:39
57 minutes, 39 seconds
Well,
well, that's my point. You don't know. But, uh, the fact that they
wanted to be in on the action, in on the front lines, uh, is what's so
inspiring. So,57:50
57 minutes, 50 seconds
yes, when uh, Mom Donnie came along, we didn't know him, but, uh, then we did,57:55
57 minutes, 55 seconds
and now he's going to be the mayor of New York City.57:59
57 minutes, 59 seconds
