Mike Johnson just made a great case for electing Democrats

House Speaker Mike Johnson on Friday tried to issue a warning about what’s at stake if Democrats win control of Congress in the November midterms—an outcome that at this point is more likely than not.

But his warning was inadvertently a great case for why voters should hand Democrats the reins.

“If we were to lose the midterms, heaven forbid, … y’all, impeachment’s not even the biggest concern,” Johnson said Friday at the right-wing Faith & Freedom Coalition’s annual Road to Majority Conference. “They will turn every committee of Congress into an investigative body, and they’ll go after the president’s family, the Cabinet, his donors and friends—half of you in this room will be targeted.”

Don’t threaten us with a good time, Mike.

In all honesty, this is an affirmative argument for voters to choose Democrats this fall.

Majorities of voters—including many in Trump’s MAGA base—want accountability for Trump and his wealthy friends over their ties to now-deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Voters feel Trump has been hiding evidence of Epstein’s crimes. And Republicans are helping him, undertaking a bullshit investigation that makes it look like they’re doing something when, in actuality, they are just running cover for their Dear Leader.

Americans also are unsupportive of Trump’s construction projects across the nation’s capital, including the White House ballroom and the unsightly gigantic arch he wants that will obscure views from Arlington National Cemetery. And so they would likely support probes into how much these ridiculous projects are costing taxpayers, which Democrats are vowing to conduct if they are given control of Congress.

Investigations into Trump’s unpopular Cabinet officials are also likely to be popular, as they have so far evaded accountability for their bad behavior and destructive actions.

Indeed, Democrats were already capitalizing on Johnson’s comment.

“Good point,” Democratic strategist Dan Pfeiffer wrote in a post on X, regarding Johnson’s remark. “If you think politicians, billionaires, elites, and members of the Epstein Class should be able to do whatever they want without any accountability, vote Republican this Fall.”

We'll get straight to the point: The financial hardships that Daily Kos is facing this year are tough.

Could someone please give Mike Johnson a dictionary?

Mike Johnson wants us to be afraid of the Democrats turning the USA into a utopia!

Frankly, I'm much more concerned with financial fraud and violatolions of the Constitution's emolument clauses. And his Hitlerian persecution of non-criminal Hispanics.

They first time he broke an emollient law, he should have been cut off at the knees, but Republicans turned a blind eye.

I imagine it will require 100 committees to dig up all the dirt he has done.

I’m not sure if he’s smart enough to understand what he just admitted to. But he sure let the cat out out of the bag.

Speaker Mike has shown were his true priorities are: protecting Trump, Mega and his hold on power.

Dumb little Mike Johnson got only one word wrong. He said "program" when he meant "racket." He runs the protection racket, and he said the quiet part out loud -- once again.

Such a stupid little man, who like all of those who support the worst and most disgusting POTUS ever play to an audience of one, that being their hero Trump. They'll say anything negative derogative or even conspiratorial to impress him and are more than happy to put him first over telling the truth, the rule of law and even the constitution. What embarrassments they all are.

He's either stupid, or they no longer care if some people (us) have figured out the plot.

The base is never told, or is too confused by all the conspiracy theories. As long as the base is in the dark, they could be re-elected.

Perhaps the "worst" thing we will do is leave the East Wing rubble on the ground and call it the "Trump Wing", why did he leave that out.

It’s time for Miley to return to the back bench where he belongs.

We can only hope that the Democratic Congress will go after all the criminals working for Trump. But remember, Democrats are generally afraid to do anything. Example : why is Trump not in jail for his traitorous activities and theft of classified documents. The reason is that Biden picked the weakest possible AG and he sat there for a year before going after these crimes (Biden's worst decision).

With a Democratic majority maybe there will be a real investigation of the findings of the election truth alliance. In machine count precincts, the higher the percentage of voter turnout, the higher the ‘share of the vote’ (vote share) Republican candidates received. Conversely, the higher the voter turnout, the lower the vote share Democratic candidates received, an association that should not exist in clean election data. In hand count precincts, no such correlation appeared. These anomalies are recognized internationally as a potential ‘election integrity red flag’ that may indicate artificially inflated votes. https://electiontruthalliance.org/about-us/

    "road to majority conference"

Heh... You might wanna rename that...

  14. Comment by Crimson Quillfeather.

Well hell. He said it out loud - "I RUN THE PROTECTION, AND I'LL TAKE CARE OF YOU. WE'RE GONNA WIN, WE'RE GONNA WIN."

Sounds like an admission that they did illegal things, and now need PROTECTION, which they can have ONLY if they win.

Which he's gonna make sure they do...?

I guess hElno is standing by.

“We Republicans are totally cool and not vindictive when we take power,” Mike Johnson said with a straight face.

It's a "heads I win, tails you lose" statement., Only Mike's Johnson "thinks" he is speaking to 100% Trumpsters. Trump himself blurted it out directly by stating that when Republicans win it is perfectly legal and all is OK., But when Democrats win it is rigged. This was even recently and implausibly claimed in LA, which is overwhelmingly Democrat, where Spencer "The lost Duggar" Pratt actually over performed but fell short of the runoff for mayor.

Committees are investigative bodies. Or they would be if comer and other rethuglicans weren't busy being rumps lapdogs/trying to find any little thing to pin on Biden/comey/Leticia James/Obama and others

Looks like Little Johnson is writing our ads for us!

Does he really think that protecting the Felon from investigation is a smart campaign strategy?

Everything they say is for an audience of one.

He knows that a big racketeering case could ensnare wads of racist gop traitors. They’ve all colluded together to endanger democracy by subverting the constitution.
