Welcome to Gay USA. I'm Andy Hum. And I'm JW Walker. Hi Jay. Hi Andy.36 seconds
What's in the news this week? Let's talk about it. Oh, well, you can't get away from it. The US midterm elections conclude on Tuesday. A45 seconds
lot of people have already voted with high hopes for pro-LGBTQ majorities in Congress, but only if we vote. and the53 seconds
debate over how to vote when the Democrats are are running anti-trans ads. Yeah, it's good debate in the community.1 minute
Uh Ryan Higgins, uh Hegsth's spiritual adviser, who is on the government payroll, was exposed by CNN for1 minute, 8 seconds
anti-LGBTQ sexist and racist bigotry. And defying Trump and Hex, some military boards on1 minute, 17 seconds
the government payroll, excuse, some military review boards are refusing to discharge transgender service members.1 minute, 23 seconds
Let's see if that holds up. We'll show you a new 3D digital model of what the Stonewall Inn looked like in 1969.1 minute, 32 seconds
Remember what happened then?1 minute, 34 seconds
And remembering pioneering SE cinema director Tom Dimone who had an impact on my childhood.1 minute, 41 seconds
Okay. In a rebuke to Trump and the right-wing, progressives have prevailed in elections in Brazil and Serbia1 minute, 51 seconds
and pro-LGBTQ Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney grapples with how hard to push those values abroad.1 minute, 59 seconds
The CDC's chief medical officer has resigned after just four months on the job, but she won't say why. Well, she2 minutes, 7 seconds
says, "I want to spend more time with my family." That's always a lie. And the starstudded Rent's 30th anniversary2 minutes, 14 seconds
concert raises much more than $525,000 for Broadway $525,600 for Broadway Cares when he fights AIDS.2 minutes, 25 seconds
That 600 matters.2 minutes, 26 seconds
Seasons of Love. Well, that's the that's the lyric. Marlon James and Nicholas Bogs are the new literary power couple.2 minutes, 36 seconds
And Andy reviews Elsenor, Andrew Scott's searing look at an actor with AIDS taking on the role of Hamlet just before his death from AIDS.2 minutes, 45 seconds
I wept through half of it. It really takes you back to 1989 and what people were going through with with AIDS in2 minutes, 53 seconds
those days, but the midterms are are Tuesday. We hope many of you have already voted and uh if you're not, you have until Tuesday to vote. And one of3 minutes, 2 seconds
the chances we there are so many angles to this election, but one of the chances we have is to elect the first openly gay male senator.3 minutes, 10 seconds
Yes, there have been three lesbians in the Senate. Uh we Chris Papus from New Hampshire there. And we we worried about3 minutes, 18 seconds
this race. He seems to be doing okay in the polls. Um there was they ran a story on him how he sort of look he's always been out. Yeah. From he's in Congress.3 minutes, 27 seconds
He's out. Yeah. But it it's not something he says comes up very much. But there he is with his husband. Yeah.3 minutes, 33 seconds
He he's not hiding. Um he says, "Our state motto is live free or die. I think people regardless of their politics3 minutes, 41 seconds
really just want their neighbors to be able to be themselves." Well, that's that's true up there. Of course, lesbian Tammy Baldwin is still in the Senate.3 minutes, 50 seconds
She was the first out lesbian. And there have been two out LGBTQ women senators since by Kirstston Cinema of Arizona.3 minutes, 59 seconds
Boo. We didn't [laughter] like her. And Lefonsa Butler out in California, but she's not there. Neither of them is there anymore.4 minutes, 7 seconds
Right.4 minutes, 7 seconds
All right. So, uh, he served already four terms in the House, Chris Papas, and he's been the co-chair of the4 minutes, 14 seconds
equality caucus and has sponsored a lot of gay rights measures. So, anyway, I mean, it's good. you know, they're they're giving him a little criticism4 minutes, 22 seconds
because uh his husband isn't sort of right there by his side as the loyal spouse up on the deis or or whatever,4 minutes, 29 seconds
but you know, he you know, he's he's been completely out. His his his district knows that he's been completely out for all this time. Um and I think4 minutes, 37 seconds
it's a non-issue. It's New Hampshire, which is a which is kind, you know, it's you know, to be rock Republican.4 minutes, 43 seconds
Yeah, exactly. But, you know, the time the times have changed. New England is, you know, except for Maine sometimes is kind of a solid block. So, you know, uh4 minutes, 52 seconds
his but his husband's incredibly supportive. His husband's always at his events. He's just, you know, not necessarily up on the stage with him.4 minutes, 58 seconds
So, so this is also the week that and we brought you about male former sex workers talked openly about their5 minutes, 7 seconds
employment by the late closet case Lindsey Graham. I mean, this was like a 30inut documentary where these guys talk about what they did with them, some when5 minutes, 14 seconds
they were 17. Now the age of consent in DC where I think this happened uh is like 16 or 17. So it's not like5 minutes, 23 seconds
underage but uh and of course there were two trans sex workers prior to this who said this. Now he's dead. Some people5 minutes, 32 seconds
think this is being brought out by Republicans to help Darlene Graham because they were going to it was going to come up. So they did it to get it out5 minutes, 41 seconds
there themselves and to make it look like an attack on her.5 minutes, 44 seconds
No. To make it No. No, to say and we all knew and who cares. Oh, you all knew and who cares? And you got a guy who's voting against gay rights all the time.5 minutes, 53 seconds
We cared.5 minutes, 55 seconds
Yeah. I know it was it what was odd was that the the mainstream media came out and pushed this like it was just this6 minutes, 2 seconds
sudden revelation, you know, that it was oh my god, this shocking revelation and and literally the day after Lindsey6 minutes, 9 seconds
Graham died, a pretty well-known sort of social media influencer, trans uh trans person who's a former sex worker, um you6 minutes, 18 seconds
know, came out with with their story about Lindsey Graham and and several others did on social media. media and that you know in in post it got wide6 minutes, 27 seconds
circulation but the but the media ignored it until this until this uh documentary which is just sort of odd.6 minutes, 34 seconds
Lindsay you you know you could have all you had to do when it when it if it came out during your lifetime instead of denying it all the time is just saying6 minutes, 42 seconds
yes I did it and I'm so sorry I love the Lord and they'll reelect you down there in South Carolina.6 minutes, 47 seconds
Well they all knew anyway and they re-elected well all knew but it's kind of a liber it's the Liberace thing.6 minutes, 53 seconds
Yeah. No, [laughter] they all knew, but they this here's the thing. They want you to stay in the closet. They want us to stay in the closet. So, they approve of you staying in the closet.7 minutes, 4 seconds
That That certainly happened with Barbara Mcowsky, who was a senator from Maryland, who voted for the Defense of Marriage Act against same-sex marriage.7 minutes, 13 seconds
And but she never came out, right?7 minutes, 16 seconds
And she tried to fake uh being attracted to men. It never was very uh credible.7 minutes, 22 seconds
All right. So the House Judiciary Committee Democrats on Monday released an unsigned staff report on what they call the case against Donald Trump and7 minutes, 30 seconds
the Epstein files. Yeah. It the So they're ready with this. I mean, it's a voluminous report to really end the7 minutes, 37 seconds
cover up of Trump's role. I mean, there was a there was a woman from Switzerland who said she was raped by him years ago.7 minutes, 46 seconds
All this stuff is coming out. Well, the you know the the interesting is anybody who actually went through the Epstein files saw you know unredacted mentions7 minutes, 54 seconds
of Donald Trump throughout and a few a few a few thousand but not everything not everything but a few but meanwhile8 minutes, 1 second
the mainstream media throughout this whole time has said there's been no allegations against Donald Trump and it's like have you not read these files8 minutes, 8 seconds
there are all these allegations and reports filled out by FBI agents with with you know with these details and they pretended that they just didn't exist.8 minutes, 18 seconds
Wow. All right. All right. Let's talk about this uh Texas these Texas flyers uh that these purportedly by a8 minutes, 27 seconds
transgender group that doesn't exist, I think.8 minutes, 29 seconds
Well, it was they they well so these these fake flyers about trans uh directed to the parents of the8 minutes, 39 seconds
student. That's how they were generally sort of the parents of the student in the blah blah blah household. uh at all in all of these uh places around Texas8 minutes, 48 seconds
and they were these flyers purporting to approximate the name of the transgender education network of Texas which is a8 minutes, 55 seconds
real trans organization. They you know slightly shifted the name so that it would you know be similar enough.9 minutes, 1 second
So it's it's it was called a back to school kit urging people to violate Senate Bill 12, the Texas parents bill9 minutes, 8 seconds
of rights around it. It includes information about bathrooms and resources related to gender affirming care and transgender students. So, it9 minutes, 15 seconds
purported to be an educational thing, but what was the purpose of this? And they spent a million dollars on a ton of money. And you know, right now,9 minutes, 23 seconds
trans panic is the law of the land. It's the law of the Republican party.9 minutes, 27 seconds
It's not [clears throat] working as well this time.9 minutes, 29 seconds
It probably isn't working as well, but it is. It sort of it catches headlines.9 minutes, 34 seconds
And that MAGA base, that 30% or whatever it is of of population. It's dwindling, but it's still probably around 30%. They9 minutes, 44 seconds
seize on everything, and it's just a way to sort of jin up turnout, I guess.9 minutes, 48 seconds
Well, uh, and of course, Elon Musk is spending hundreds of millions of dollars on anti-trans ads and possibly he's9 minutes, 56 seconds
behind this. So, the Democratic Party is calling for an investigation by Ken Paxton, who is the attorney general of Texas.10 minutes, 5 seconds
Good luck with that. But the Transgender Education Network of Texas is suing to get the information revealed about who10 minutes, 12 seconds
was actually behind it. And apparently uh this couple called Matthew and Shelby Sarasen of Flower Mound and Newman10 minutes, 21 seconds
Catholic Ministry, these MAG Not even in Texas.10 minutes, 24 seconds
Yeah, not even in Texas. Well, yeah, they're Wyoming or somewhere like that.10 minutes, 27 seconds
Another state. Uh apparently they've been identified as being behind these flyers. So we'll see how all this shakes out in the months after the election.10 minutes, 34 seconds
They're registered in Wyoming. Wyoming. Yeah.10 minutes, 37 seconds
Now, here's this. This is a big controversy for a lot of people for for we should all pay attention to it. So,10 minutes, 44 seconds
we've seen some desperate Democrats in swing districts towards the end of their campaign saying, "I hate trans people."10 minutes, 52 seconds
Basically, I mean, it's not just I want to keep trans people out of sports. It's like Josh Turk, the Iowa Senate10 minutes, 59 seconds
candidate, Democrat, who, you know, he he used to say, "Oh, look, let them play school sports. I'm a he I was a11 minutes, 8 seconds
parolympian. They tried to keep me out because of my wheelch, you know, everybody should be allowed to play blah blah blah blah blah." But now heo he11 minutes, 16 seconds
doesn't just oppo oppose what he calls males competing in female sports or but taxpayers paying for sex changes11 minutes, 26 seconds
and because that's what he's getting attacked on but he's succumbing to that and you know rather than standing firm in in his in11 minutes, 33 seconds
his alleged ideals you know Iowa was the first state to protect trans rights statewide. They rescended it the last couple [laughter] of years,11 minutes, 42 seconds
but they were the first state to do that. And he could be better. And you know, and also Nancy Laor who's running for Congress in South Carolina.11 minutes, 49 seconds
Yes. But let me finish up on him. He goes on uh Lawrence O'Donnell last MS now.11 minutes, 56 seconds
All MS Now does and you know I'm voting Democrats this year who of course but I mean is they do the all these softball12 minutes, 4 seconds
things doesn't get confronted about tactics like this. It's all just puffery and then the Senate candidate gets to12 minutes, 11 seconds
say, "Here's my website. Donate money to me." It's it's kind of pathetic. It's just not good journalism. I mean, now12 minutes, 20 seconds
so here so go ahead talk about the other case. Well, and also just to say that similarly, he was on ABC News this week uh uh an interview this past Sunday and12 minutes, 29 seconds
again, you know, no mention of it at all, but he did um he was asked what he agreed with uh Donald Trump on and he12 minutes, 38 seconds
ran down this litany of Trump policies that he agreed on. And so there that was before the story broke about the about his his stance on on on on trans people.12 minutes, 48 seconds
And I was and all that that rang out in my head was Joe Mansion Federman [snorts] Cinema. This is another one of these12 minutes, 57 seconds
sort of moderate Democrats that people bring in that end up betraying the On the other hand,13 minutes, 4 seconds
if we don't win a majority, we can't do anything. It's true.13 minutes, 9 seconds
So this is the debate. I mean, uh, Erin Reid of Eron in the morning is saying this is a bridge too far. You know, do13 minutes, 16 seconds
I'm not saying vote for Republicans, she said, but how can you vote for these people? Let me tell you something, Erin, and I love your work. I really love your work.13 minutes, 24 seconds
I have had to vote for anti-gay Democrats my whole life. Chuck Schumer is my senator. He opposed same-sex13 minutes, 31 seconds
marriage for for for decades and didn't change around until his lesbian daughter came out to him. Oh, actually, the the13 minutes, 39 seconds
real reason was Kristen Kirsten Gillibrand Jillbrand.13 minutes, 43 seconds
Gillibrand. Kirsten Gillibrand got appointed senator and she came out for samesex marriage in New York that he had to. But seriously, I I you know, when it13 minutes, 52 seconds
comes down to November in the primary, I'll support the most progressive candidate, the most progq, but if I don't have one to vote for, I'm not going to put a Republican in power.14 minutes, 2 seconds
Exactly.14 minutes, 3 seconds
So, what would you do?14 minutes, 5 seconds
Well, no. What I say is that if if his taking this stance publicly or Nancy Laor in South Carolina, if them taking14 minutes, 13 seconds
this stand publicly is intended to uh encourage uh the lowinformation voter or14 minutes, 21 seconds
the Republican voter who's maybe not hardcore MAGA to vote for them, then our being upset about it will actually also encourage them.14 minutes, 30 seconds
Encourage them.14 minutes, 31 seconds
It will also encourage them to vote for them. You know, as I'm not saying don't vote for them. I am saying that we need to have Would you vote for them?14 minutes, 37 seconds
I would vote I would vote I will always vote for the Democrat over o over the clan. I will always always always vote for the Democrats over the clan as long14 minutes, 45 seconds
as as as long as that's how the parties are aligned.14 minutes, 49 seconds
It is it is a fascist party at this point. Yeah.14 minutes, 52 seconds
Um yeah. So so the thing is if if if making this stance is is going to attract them these voters then our15 minutes, 1 second
making a stink about it is going to attract those voters too. Well,15 minutes, 5 seconds
[laughter]15 minutes, 6 seconds
the the the thing I don't agree with their strategy and coming out with this anti-trans stop. All you're doing, I15 minutes, 12 seconds
mean, we may be more attuned to we have to get the majority, we have to do this, but you're suppressing people in your15 minutes, 20 seconds
base who who think, okay, there's no difference between you two.15 minutes, 24 seconds
And that's and that's the and that's the the overriding issue. And that's why, let's say that he wins, then we'll have that two-month period between election15 minutes, 32 seconds
and January 1st when the new um the new Congress is sworn in to push and push and push him.15 minutes, 38 seconds
You always have to push. You always have to push. Now, you you're worried about another Joe Mansion and and those kinds of things. The other thing is I don't15 minutes, 46 seconds
think uh you know, the the Democrats are going to let these anti-trans bills go anywhere.15 minutes, 52 seconds
No. No. It's just they've already defeated them now when they're in the minority and they just use the filibuster. So, I don't think that's15 minutes, 59 seconds
going to happen. And I think we can pass things in the House. And I don't think the problem is really at the state level like we're like we're seeing in Texas,16 minutes, 7 seconds
like we're, you know, on trans issues, on abortion, on these issues of bodily autonomy. The problem is at the state16 minutes, 14 seconds
level. There's not enough energy in Congress in to to enact any kind of over, you know, over over uh winning16 minutes, 22 seconds
federal legislation. It's really the states are where that battle is.16 minutes, 26 seconds
Yes. And and we're we hope to make a lot of progress in the states if you have things. Now [clears throat] let's talk about oh so you talked about South16 minutes, 34 seconds
Carolina and Nancy Laor you another you know the and again and again it was all about the uh trans and sports and both of them that's their sort of lynch pin issue16 minutes, 42 seconds
when we all know that there have maybe been you know 10 12 uh trans people playing at the collegiate level and16 minutes, 50 seconds
nobody even knows uh you know what a vanishingly small number of trans people trans girls have you know tried to play16 minutes, 58 seconds
in girls sports around the country. I mean, the sports things, look, whatever you feel about it, it's being handled by the sports associations. They're making the rules. They're often excluding them.17 minutes, 8 seconds
It's kind of, it's absolutely ridiculous to exclude them, especially at the little kitty level, uh, when when they identify, but they do because they're17 minutes, 15 seconds
cruel. And, uh, but what's but what's interesting though is if you if you're not allowing trans women to play women's17 minutes, 22 seconds
sports uh, because of biology, then you have to allow trans men to men to play women's sports.17 minutes, 28 seconds
Yes. And that's and that's there was been one WNBA player who transitioned kind of she uh she you know started in the NBA17 minutes, 37 seconds
identifying as as uh her sex assigned at birth as female and then she transitioned17 minutes, 44 seconds
to male later or he did I should say um and uh and I don't um I I I'm not I'm17 minutes, 52 seconds
not entirely clear whether he transition I think he transitioned like right toward the end of his WNBA career. But there was but he was not forced out.18 minutes, 3 seconds
Okay. At that time at that time.18 minutes, 5 seconds
Now, of course, a couple of years ago, we're reporting on the famous case of a of a high school uh wrestler who was trans male18 minutes, 14 seconds
a and they would not let him play with the men, right? So, he had to go play with the women.18 minutes, 20 seconds
And he won all the events. [laughter] And he said, "Look, I don't want to play with I don't want to play with with the women. I'm not a woman, but you're making me do this, so I'm doing it.18 minutes, 30 seconds
But, you know, I think that in the end, after, you know, after all the sewers and the storm and drying is over with and the elections are over with, what it's going to end up coming down to is18 minutes, 38 seconds
the parents of cisgender girls saying, "You are not going to be uh18 minutes, 45 seconds
examining my girls genitals." We ran an ad about that last week.18 minutes, 49 seconds
That's that's what's that's what it's going to end up coming down to because that's what they want to do. They want to feel up what's going on down there. It's It's perverted.18 minutes, 58 seconds
Yeah.18 minutes, 59 seconds
All right. Let's talk about some19 minutes, 1 second
[groaning]19 minutes, 2 seconds
national things, some things that happened this week. And [clears throat] I get your take on this. Uh Clinton, Bill Clinton,19 minutes, 9 seconds
Bill Clinton was on the Tra campaign trail. He goes, "I think Congress made a mistake not protesting turning the Rose Garden into what looks like the entrance19 minutes, 17 seconds
to Liberace's bathroom." Is that anti-gay, Bill? No, it's anti-tacky.19 minutes, 24 seconds
[laughter]19 minutes, 25 seconds
All right. And and now we're on to Obama because he's on the stump for Abdul say.19 minutes, 31 seconds
And he [clears throat] he went on and on. He was he really was goating.19 minutes, 35 seconds
He was Trump. He was he says the administration has been defined by incompetence the likes of which we have not seen in modern times.19 minutes, 44 seconds
Which is such Trump phrasing. He's intentionally using Trump phrasing.19 minutes, 48 seconds
Two years of chaos and cruelty and corruption. But the cudigra was saying Trump should be on HGTV. He's got the19 minutes, 56 seconds
White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a cheesecake factory. He just told everyone this. Trump spent four20 minutes, 4 seconds
minutes, five minutes talking about this at his rallies and and he sends his his uh gay20 minutes, 11 seconds
Treasury secretary to the Cheesecake Factory to act like Obama is being elitist.20 minutes, 16 seconds
Yeah. Well, and they did a whole social coordinated social media talking point campaign. All of these right-wing uh bot20 minutes, 24 seconds
accounts and regular accounts, you know, started posting these defenses of the Cheesecake Factory. And how dare you insult me?20 minutes, 30 seconds
Cheesecake Factory, by the way, ain't cheap.20 minutes, 32 seconds
Yeah. Right. [clears throat] I'm not I've never, you know, I've never been to a cheesecake.20 minutes, 35 seconds
I was taken to one in Rhode Island. You know, I wouldn't have gone on my own.20 minutes, 38 seconds
You know, family. [laughter] Yeah. But it's all right. But it's not cheap.20 minutes, 42 seconds
But it's not cheap. I'm sure. Was it was it godily decorated?20 minutes, 45 seconds
I remember that. The only thing I know about because it's on the Big Bang Theory a lot because Penny worked there.20 minutes, 50 seconds
That's the only reason I know anything about a chain.20 minutes, 52 seconds
I know. I know. I looked it up. I I was surprised how many there were.20 minutes, 56 seconds
[laughter]20 minutes, 56 seconds
Anyway, so of course Trump, you know, the the bully, right? He doesn't know what to say. He says,21 minutes, 3 seconds
uh, for you to say it's a cheesecake factory, that just shows you're a lousy president. [laughter]21 minutes, 12 seconds
And then he called Obama a stupid person. Oh. Oh. Oh. He's [laughter] He's losing it.21 minutes, 19 seconds
Yes. And of course, we're the victims.21 minutes, 22 seconds
Yeah. But, you know, the more that he attacks Obama, who's out of office, not running for office, you know, the less time he has to attacks actual Democrats21 minutes, 29 seconds
who are actually in office and running for office.21 minutes, 32 seconds
That's why he got on politics, cuz he hated Obama. Obama also mocked Defense Secretary Pete Hegath's fascination with21 minutes, 40 seconds
testosterone levels [laughter] and asked, "How much time do you think this man spends in front of a mirror every night?" [laughter]21 minutes, 48 seconds
I want to know how much time he spends on Grinder.21 minutes, 51 seconds
What uh what else were you going to say about Hegath this week? Oh, just that he um Oh god, what was it?22 minutes
The black uh Oh, yeah. Well, just that he's on the Don Lemon show. um the news girls newsgirl.report on Instagram. They're22 minutes, 7 seconds
like up and cominging uh news bloggers and they were interviewed by Don Lemon on his show, I think yesterday, and they in and they talked about how they're22 minutes, 15 seconds
apparently there's some low-level Pentagon staff that are blackmailing Pete Hex. Oh, they're not black people. No, no, they're blackmailing.22 minutes, 23 seconds
They're misunderstood because you use that racist phrase, blackmail.22 minutes, 27 seconds
[laughter]22 minutes, 30 seconds
All right. They're blackmailing Pete Hex over his alcoholism and his mistreatment22 minutes, 36 seconds
of his female partners. Uh, and somehow how is it bringing him into line that they're being allowed to affect policy in the Pentagon somehow?22 minutes, 45 seconds
Well, the policies coming out aren't any good.22 minutes, 47 seconds
Yeah. Speaking of which, the maybe they're worse. Talk about Trump and Nicki Minaj.22 minutes, 53 seconds
Do we have to? [laughter] No, we don't.22 minutes, 55 seconds
No, no, no, no. Nicki Minaj is No. Nicki Minaj is just an embarrassment. She's an embarrassment to herself. She's an embarrassment to the hip-hop community.23 minutes, 2 seconds
She comes out and she comes out to these things and talks about voting and you got to vote and stuff. Nicki Minaj can't vote. Nicki Minaj is not a citizen.23 minutes, 9 seconds
Nicki Minaj's uh partner can't vote because he's a felon. Nicki Minaj's brother can't vote because he's because23 minutes, 18 seconds
he's also a felon. I the kind this is the quality of the quality of people that Donald Trump has to rely on. But he23 minutes, 25 seconds
has chosen her to move on from uh the ass as to use his word of John Houston, who's the Republican candidate in uh where is it?23 minutes, 38 seconds
Oh uh uh Ohio. Yeah. For Senate against Sherard Brown, who is gaining uh to go23 minutes, 45 seconds
after the ass of Nicki Minaj. He's standing right there. [laughter] By the way, I've looked at one hell of a23 minutes, 52 seconds
beautiful ass before. Nicki Minaj. Hard to miss. Stand up. Show. I mean, where is the outrage?23 minutes, 59 seconds
Yeah. Well, well, especially when the Republican party periodically goes through these peroxisms of body shaming24 minutes, 7 seconds
of black women for twerking or sort of like, you know, doing this sort of uh sort of uh you know, shaming of black women for over sexualizing black women,24 minutes, 16 seconds
that sort of thing. Uh all the time. And so then he gets onto the stump and and and starts lauding Nicki Minaj's body.24 minutes, 25 seconds
So it's it it's kind of weird.24 minutes, 26 seconds
And then the question is whether Trump's uh is Islamophobic rants against Elsiad, the Democratic candidate for Senate in24 minutes, 35 seconds
Michigan are working. He said that Elsiad, a Muslim, would invite hordes of24 minutes, 42 seconds
jihadis to our shores. and Elsiad responded uh said the Republican24 minutes, 49 seconds
strategy is to point at me and my name and my faith, but my name and my faith are not the reason you can't afford gas.24 minutes, 57 seconds
Exactly. Exactly. No, he's he is excellent at parrying all of the all of the thrust. And by the way, People magazine, sexiest man in the world, not Noah Wy, it's uh Abdul Oayad.25 minutes, 9 seconds
Okay, maybe next year. [laughter] Maybe they're waiting for him to get elected. Maybe that's it.25 minutes, 15 seconds
Okay. Uh, so, uh, [clears throat] it's not just because I used to play golf and Anne, of course, was a is still a25 minutes, 22 seconds
golfer, but we following this case of what Trump is trying to do to a nice public municipal uh, [snorts] affordable golf course in the District of Columbia.25 minutes, 31 seconds
I didn't even know it was there, but there it is in the District of Columbia. So, Trump is tearing all the trees down.25 minutes, 38 seconds
Is wants to build what he calls a championship course, which would cost a fortune to play, which is an outrage. He has no authorization to do this now.25 minutes, 45 seconds
He's not following any procedures. So the lesbian judge, federal judge Anna Reyes has now blocked the Interior Department from carrying out uh what25 minutes, 54 seconds
they want to do to East Potoac Park. And then she said, "Rearly, if ever, has the US Department of Justice urged a federal26 minutes, 2 seconds
court not to believe anything a sitting president says, not to believe him that a cabinet secretary has developed a26 minutes, 8 seconds
federal land project, not to believe him that the secretary's agency will destroy a historic golf course already on the26 minutes, 16 seconds
land." So, you know, see, Trump is always the most damning witness in a suit against against Trump.26 minutes, 22 seconds
against Trump. [laughter] I mean, but so good for her. She's doing it. Of course, he calls her a harsh show. Good.26 minutes, 28 seconds
And and he will do the same thing that he did to the construction uh of the East Wing, which is he will keep doing26 minutes, 35 seconds
it even though he has been enjoined not to.26 minutes, 38 seconds
And and Donald, I know you watch the show. We're going to tear it down when you're gone.26 minutes, 43 seconds
We're tearing it or maybe make it a homeless shelter.26 minutes, 46 seconds
Would that be Yeah. Well, you don't want No, you want the golf course to remain a golf course.26 minutes, 49 seconds
No, I'm talking about the golf I'm talking about the Oh, the East Wing. The the the ballroom.26 minutes, 53 seconds
The ballroom. The ballroom. Yeah. I think we'll we'll figure out something, you know, we we'll figure out something to do with the ballroom. It'll be it'll be something fabulous.27 minutes
Okay. [laughter] But not too but not too gaudy.27 minutes, 3 seconds
Who whoever whoever the Democratic president is in 2029, bring in the gays and the gays will will help you figure out what to do with that.27 minutes, 11 seconds
Make it more tasteful. Yeah.27 minutes, 13 seconds
All right. Let's talk about Everybody has heard about what's [snorts] happening in Ohio. the in the governor's race, Vivvec Ramaswami's disgusting ad27 minutes, 21 seconds
featuring Democratic candidate Emmy Actton's uh uh biological mother who who27 minutes, 29 seconds
she hasn't seen in 50 years accusing her of being a liar. Uh Actton was taken out of that home because she was raped by her father who27 minutes, 37 seconds
her stepfather stepfather who this woman uh stayed married to uh until he died. So,27 minutes, 45 seconds
well, you know, how do you think this this is playing out? I mean, they they think they tested this ad and they think it's working for them.27 minutes, 51 seconds
Yeah, I think that they were testing it for a bunch of of MAGA people at a home or something like that. I don't I don't know, but um it is it is not nationally28 minutes, 1 second
it is not testing well. So many Republicans have come out um against say like you know Republicans running in28 minutes, 8 seconds
Ohio have come out and said this is horrible. It should be taken down. It never should have been done. Um, you know, the fact is that this woman, she28 minutes, 15 seconds
she not only she she didn't just stay with him. He was indicted for this crime. There was evidence he was going28 minutes, 22 seconds
to be tried and he went on the run and she went on the run with him [snorts] and, you know, abandoning both both the children already been taken out of the28 minutes, 30 seconds
home, but they did nothing to try to get custody back of the children. They were under the age of 10 or 11, I think, when28 minutes, 37 seconds
when when it happened. Um and to use something like this this punk very rich punk Ramaswami and28 minutes, 45 seconds
he is the epitome of a punk and a grifter.28 minutes, 48 seconds
Yes. He uh he got backed up by Trump and by former US senator from Ohio JD Vance28 minutes, 56 seconds
uh who and they're willing to weaponize the rape of a child to help them win power. We have to hope this isn't going to work. Sherid Brown is the Democrat.29 minutes, 6 seconds
He was the US senator. We hope he comes back.29 minutes, 9 seconds
I think it's I think this really undermined I I I have a I had a feeling that Ramaswami wasn't going to win anyway. I just you know before this29 minutes, 18 seconds
it is Ohio but he's well the decency of people in Ohio is coming out around this. It's like this is a bridge to29 minutes, 26 seconds
Yeah. This is this is and and Ramaswami wouldn't take [snorts] down the ad spent another form of money more money to circulate it even more.29 minutes, 33 seconds
All right. So a little a little good news for transgender people in the military. They're Trump administration is trying to throw them hexag trying to29 minutes, 40 seconds
throw them all out but they they can appeal their discharges and they go before review boards and it's the Navy and the Marines.29 minutes, 48 seconds
The Navy and the Marines who in many cases are saying no we're not getting rid of you. Yeah.29 minutes, 53 seconds
Now this can be over and the Army and the Air Force haven't come around. But this the Times did this study. The30 minutes, 1 second
can be overruled of course by the monsters at the higherups in the administration. We'll see what happens there. But of course, there are court30 minutes, 9 seconds
cases working their way through saying this ban is unconstitutional.30 minutes, 14 seconds
And it's very rare that the courts don't back the military. But I think in this case, we have a chance. Am I being naive?30 minutes, 22 seconds
No, I think I think that you aren't being naive because I think, you know, this is such a it's it's such a clear just targeted [snorts]30 minutes, 30 seconds
bigotry going after going after these trans people. A lot of these are people in in really key positions who have very30 minutes, 38 seconds
very important jobs. We need you and have sterling records and talents and skills and abilities and they are30 minutes, 46 seconds
eliminating. And we're seeing all across the military, you know, all these crash, you know, planes crashing, helicopters crashing, like you know, you you got to30 minutes, 54 seconds
wonder why. You you see uh the ship gets left out in the ocean. bomb a school over 100 kids in it in uh Iran and say,31 minutes, 3 seconds
"Oh, uh, we had old information or something." Yeah. So, you know, it's it's it's bearing out. They've been they've gotten rid of tons of black and brown generals.31 minutes, 13 seconds
They've gotten rid of tons of women in the military, but particularly women of color. Um, and you you see the results.31 minutes, 21 seconds
Well, of course, [clears throat] Pete Hagsath is guided by his senior adviser for religious issues. This is someone31 minutes, 28 seconds
we're paying the salary of. His name is Ryan Higgins. And CNN expo exposed scores of racist, sexist, and homophobic31 minutes, 37 seconds
posts, conspiracy theories. He calls us, all of us, uh they call well, he calls samesex marriage abominable. He calls he31 minutes, 46 seconds
just referred to LGBTQ in general as a satanic cult. And he calls being transgender a mental disorder. And then31 minutes, 55 seconds
he says accuses immigrants of color of coming here and raping our31 minutes, 59 seconds
[clears throat]32 minutes
white women. Our white women. Now, how this is not a fireable offense even today in the Trump administration32 minutes, 8 seconds
because you know in the first Trump administration, some of these guys, even Steven Miller got out of line. They they they got rid of them that now they're in charge.32 minutes, 16 seconds
Well, the well the other the interesting thing about this is this man has been in this position since February.32 minutes, 24 seconds
um you know since right after no noig Higgins he's not a new hireer he's been in this position for a long time his32 minutes, 31 seconds
public record of just just racism and homophobia and transphobia all of it is has been out there for all the world to32 minutes, 40 seconds
see but it's literally been ignored until until CNN you know it wasn't a big deep dive that CNN had to do all this32 minutes, 48 seconds
stuff was sitting there on on Twitter well the Pentagon did respond by saying Higgins is a valued member of Secretary32 minutes, 55 seconds
Hexath's [snorts] team who was focused on the spiritual health of our troops.32 minutes, 59 seconds
Hexath also hosted such speakers in the Pentagon as Doug Wilson, a pastor who said he's hosted him in the Pentagon who33 minutes, 7 seconds
supports the repeal of a woman's right to vote and says that homosexuality should once again be criminalized.33 minutes, 14 seconds
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you know, this is the reason that there's no firing of this is because this is literally the ethos of the Trump administration. This33 minutes, 22 seconds
is literally the ethos of the Trump administration. Hatred, bigotry, homophobia, racism, misogyny, transphob all of it.33 minutes, 31 seconds
A lot of people seem to enjoy it.33 minutes, 33 seconds
Unfortunately, you know, I mean, this is the project, you know, they always say, "Oh, we're better than that." A lot of people in this country are not are not are not. And, you know, that's why he got elected.33 minutes, 42 seconds
Well, and then one more account to add to Hegat's impeachment on day one of the new Congress. Uh33 minutes, 50 seconds
he he demanded having General Eisenhower's famous globe moved to his office. He33 minutes, 57 seconds
didn't hire people who knew how to do it. He just had some people and they broke you can't really see it very well, but he they busted the thing.34 minutes, 5 seconds
They dropped it.34 minutes, 6 seconds
And it it it again it shows the contempt for expertise when doing anything. And but of course it's not his most serious34 minutes, 13 seconds
crimes. That would be the illegal war in Iran, the extrajudicial killings of people in boats in the Caribbean.34 minutes, 19 seconds
But it's also very and of course all these treatment of officers based on race and gender.34 minutes, 24 seconds
I mean, but it is kind of very symbolic of the Trump administration destroying the world.34 minutes, 29 seconds
And guess what? He's now rumored to be angling to leave the administration and and take the Senate seat or run for the34 minutes, 36 seconds
Senate seat or get appointed to the Senate seat of of Martha Marsha Blackburn. Marsha Blackburn34 minutes, 43 seconds
who is running for governor. So if she gets to be governor, she gets to choose who will replace her in the Senate. Pete Hankset.34 minutes, 51 seconds
Well, it is the hate state.34 minutes, 53 seconds
Yeah. Yeah. It is it is the it is the state that was that where the Klux Clan was founded. Never forget.34 minutes, 59 seconds
Okay. All right. And uh well, here's you know, can we get to some good news? We now have the first ever digital 3D model35 minutes, 8 seconds
of the historic Stonewall Inn. Uh it's done by the New York City LGBTQ Historic Sites Project and Making Gay History.35 minutes, 16 seconds
And if you go, we're going to link to their website. Uh and you can see all different aspects of what this thing35 minutes, 22 seconds
looked like in 1969. It occupied two spaces. The current what looks the current bar, which is not a continuous35 minutes, 30 seconds
bar, and what's now the Stonewall Visitors Museum. Uh and it gives you an accurate representation. Now, Tommy Lanigan Schmidt was 18 years old and he35 minutes, 38 seconds
was at Stonewall. He's one of the more reliable uh veterans who can tell you about it. He said, "If you're going to make a museum here, recreate the bar the way it was. Show it was a dive bar.35 minutes, 50 seconds
Show people what it was like. All the different narrow [clears throat] corridors you had to go to get in, you know, cuz the mafia ran it and all35 minutes, 57 seconds
that." And uh it just it was mafia managed there at 53 Christopher Street.36 minutes, 3 seconds
Yeah. And by the way, the it is on the the whole Stonewall monument, which is really the streets around36 minutes, 10 seconds
around it. Exactly. It's that whole area around is considered one of the most endangered historic places in America. Shocking in a way. Of course, Trump tried to take the rainbow flag down.36 minutes, 20 seconds
He tried.36 minutes, 21 seconds
Jay Walker literally personally put it back up along with other other folks.36 minutes, 27 seconds
I know you had help. We're rolling this together. All this together.36 minutes, 29 seconds
And I'd go to these things where everybody would be, you remember this?36 minutes, 33 seconds
uh complaining about the fact that they took down the the rainbow flag and I would say, "Put it back up. Just do it.36 minutes, 41 seconds
Just do it." And you would look at like, "All right." But you did. We did eventually.36 minutes, 46 seconds
We did. We did. [snorts] All right. So, let's move on.36 minutes, 52 seconds
Well, talk about pioneering porn and sle cinema director Tom De Simone. You seem to know him. I don't.37 minutes
I know. I I did not know his porn work.37 minutes, 2 seconds
Oh, but I didn't know his porn work. Um, but when I was passed away, yeah, he lived lived a good37 minutes, 9 seconds
long life and had a really interesting career. It wasn't just porn. He did sort of kind of avantguard stuff. He did a little bit of television. He had a37 minutes, 17 seconds
pretty full career in um in in fil in the in the film world, but he also did porn and sort of I think one of his37 minutes, 25 seconds
films was one of the first uh porn films, gay porn films, um that had dialogue and a plot. It wasn't just, you know, bomb chicka wow wow music and and37 minutes, 34 seconds
and and and sexy times. But when I was growing up, and that film, by the way, for you old-timers, I don't remember it, was37 minutes, 41 seconds
called Lancer Brooks in 19 Oh, he directed he used a a phony name, Lancer Brooks. The film was called The Collection in 1970.37 minutes, 51 seconds
[snorts]37 minutes, 51 seconds
But when I was a uh a young uh a young kid uh 12 13 years old uh right after37 minutes, 58 seconds
that in the early 80s uh and cable had just sort of come to my area in Virginia and so there was a a channel which later38 minutes, 8 seconds
became the movie channel but then it was called the Star Channel and there was that was my one pay cable movie network that my mom would pay for and there was38 minutes, 17 seconds
this movie on that I became obsessed with and watched over and over and over again. And it was called Chatterbox. Um, and it was directed by uh Tom Simone.38 minutes, 28 seconds
And it was about Penelopey Pitman, a young woman, an inspiring performer whose vagina could sing and had a38 minutes, 36 seconds
beautiful could talk and sing. It had a beautiful voice. And I was obsessed with this movie. It was like it was like a perfect movie for like a little queer boy.38 minutes, 45 seconds
What What was the title of it? Chatterbox.38 minutes, 46 seconds
Why didn't they call it The Singing Vagina?38 minutes, 48 seconds
Well, Chatterbox. in a scene. [laughter] But [clears throat] yeah, so and I I had no idea that he was also this, you know, pioneering silly cinema director, but it was fun.38 minutes, 58 seconds
All right, Tom D. Simone, a life well-lived.39 minutes, 1 second
Yes. [laughter] Did some breakthroughs. Uh we also look we just as we were coming uh on for the taping, we learned that Dolores Huittra39 minutes, 9 seconds
has died. She was 96. She was the head of the the United Farm Workers with Caesar39 minutes, 17 seconds
Chavez. trouble with Caesar Chavez and and going, you know, going after her sexually, but I mean that's not what we want to remember her for.39 minutes, 24 seconds
No, we want her to work for leader. Yeah. Organizer, leader, um just39 minutes, 30 seconds
um a powerful voice for change and a powerful voice for Latino womanhood. Um and and you know and the fact that she39 minutes, 38 seconds
came out um with the truth about what she went through and what other women went through with Cesar Chavez is a testament to um you know to how um how39 minutes, 48 seconds
strong she was and they both were uh actually [snorts] very strong supporters of LGBTQ rights over the years with both of them.39 minutes, 55 seconds
All right, international news. Can you believe Brazil? I mean come on.40 minutes, 2 seconds
It was such a squeaker. Uh we the New York Times was writing Lula's political obituary served three terms as [snorts]40 minutes, 9 seconds
the president president of Brazil and he you know he got into a runoff with the son of Bolsinaro40 minutes, 17 seconds
Flavio and they said oh Flavio Flavio got more votes and he's got right-wing parties and they're going to win and this is the New York Times. They were40 minutes, 26 seconds
just finished with him and he pulled it out. A lot of social media on his side got got got moving, but people just got40 minutes, 35 seconds
out in the streets and they said, "Oh, we might lose him." Yeah. And they reelected him. And what did Flavio do?40 minutes, 43 seconds
Fled to the United States because he's he could face indictment. His his father is under house arrest for the next 2740 minutes, 51 seconds
years for what he for plotting a coup against the government. Right. Wow.40 minutes, 55 seconds
Well, then Flavio had Flavio's apparent crimes were completely different like just there were his own personal crimes that he could be indicted and prosecuted41 minutes, 4 seconds
for, which is why he fled. And of course, money laundering and of course uh Donald Trump uh you know is the Trump administration is welcoming welcoming.41 minutes, 15 seconds
And after he didn't win in the first round, Lula did not try to court voters by appealing to the anti-trans41 minutes, 22 seconds
electorate. Instead, his campaign focused on mobilizing voters. And we have a picture of him kissing a trans leader there, a legislator, right?41 minutes, 30 seconds
A trans lawmaker actually on the cheek.41 minutes, 33 seconds
That is Erica Hilton who was who is trans. She said, "That's my president. I never doubted you." She herself was41 minutes, 41 seconds
reelected earlier this month in the first round to represent S. Po with more than 1.5 million votes, the most any41 minutes, 49 seconds
woman has ever received in a race for the chamber.41 minutes, 53 seconds
That's just really extraordinary to see how, you know, how far Brazil is beyond42 minutes
the United States of America when it comes to they're divided, too. I mean, they're divided, but you know, they they got rid they got rid of Bolsinaro and42 minutes, 8 seconds
they kept him out and they and they convicted him. They put him, you know, they put him under house arrest. his son tried to carry on the legacy. They42 minutes, 17 seconds
defeated him. We got, you know, Trump out for four years. Didn't manage to like get any charges.42 minutes, 23 seconds
We're going to have to get better organized, aren't we? Now, I know you're out there every [laughter] week with Rise and Resist and Gays Against Guns42 minutes, 31 seconds
and all these groups. I mean, no one can fault this guy. Yeah, we need our but we need our leaders to to you know grow some things42 minutes, 39 seconds
and also very excited about the transformation transformation in Serbia.42 minutes, 45 seconds
Yeah, the longtime nationalist rightwing strong man. Now that's a picture of him on a poster and people sort of42 minutes, 51 seconds
celebrating that he's gone. Alexander uh Vuchic uh who conceded on Sunday. the42 minutes, 59 seconds
the movement against him has been going on for the last two years is called student list student win. Uh and he he's43 minutes, 7 seconds
been in power since 2012. Yeah. And [clears throat] there was a lot of increasing anti-LGBTQ violence over the summer. Uh even though this party his43 minutes, 15 seconds
right-wing party had an out installed an out lesbian Anna Bernage Bernabage as the as the acting president since43 minutes, 23 seconds
September but and you know she was no prize despite being a lesbian. And so now now we don't know who's going to43 minutes, 31 seconds
lead the country. They have to select somebody to run the government. But they won like43 minutes, 38 seconds
140. I mean a a good majority they're going to be controlling.43 minutes, 42 seconds
Well and the the the wild the really really interesting thing about this is that it was a movement election. It43 minutes, 51 seconds
wasn't a sort of cult of personality like you know you know the man they ousted was you was very much around him.43 minutes, 56 seconds
He was a strong man, that sort of typical autocratic uh autocratic kind of character. But this was just this broad44 minutes, 4 seconds
student movement. They weren't rallying behind one person. It was about a it was about a generational a generational44 minutes, 11 seconds
shift and a societal shift. And I'm sure that the leader I'm sure that the the leaders and the organizers within the movement already have their people44 minutes, 20 seconds
selected, you know, but they you know, but you know, and so we'll we'll hear about it like flowing out. But it was just it was just so fascinating that it44 minutes, 27 seconds
it just felt like that that even though I mean it's a completely different thing because we're talking about the Peronis here, but that moment in Avita when44 minutes, 34 seconds
they're doing a new Argentina and and you and you see all of the people sort of marching through the streets all together arm in- arm a new you know it44 minutes, 42 seconds
just it felt like that. It felt like a real people that was for I know that's what I'm saying. It's not the same thing at all. It's not the same thing at all. But it was just sort of44 minutes, 50 seconds
that that or maybe even maybe lay miser rob maybe maybe it's a more of a lay miser rob moment kind of thing.44 minutes, 56 seconds
[laughter]44 minutes, 57 seconds
I'm sorry [clears throat] musical theater. What can they say? What can we say?45 minutes, 1 second
How much sex do you like musical theater?45 minutes, 2 seconds
Hey so fantastic news from there. And by the way the first thing they did is they go to the TV station say you guys have got to go oh no we're on your side now.45 minutes, 12 seconds
[laughter]45 minutes, 12 seconds
They used to be, but there was there was a publication called The Informer, and they went to his office and he said, "I'm not changing. Get out of here." You know, so we'll see.45 minutes, 21 seconds
We'll see what happens.45 minutes, 22 seconds
Anyway, uh I I want to run this clip, two-minute clip from Prime Minister, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. He was in Turkey for high level meetings,45 minutes, 30 seconds
and he got asked at a press conference about whether he was raising LGBTQ rights when he's meeting with the Turkish officials. And it's kind of45 minutes, 37 seconds
nuance. Are you concerned about the message this could be sending to Canadians and to the broader global public about Canada drawing closer to a45 minutes, 45 seconds
country that has convicted a comedian of ridiculing the president and cracked down on LGBT rights?45 minutes, 53 seconds
Uh well, let let me let me underscore several things. First uh our first and foremost job is protecting uh not just46 minutes
protecting LGBTQI rights and two spirited rights in Canada, but promoting those rights and46 minutes, 8 seconds
promoting ensuring that all Canadians can live their full selves uh in Canada.46 minutes, 14 seconds
So first and foremost, that's that's our responsibility. Part of the way we discharge that is to be a truly sovereign nation. Part of the way we46 minutes, 22 seconds
become a truly sovereign nation and reinforce our sovereignty is to have a broad range of partnerships uh around46 minutes, 30 seconds
the world. Those partnerships uh the engagement in those partnerships does not mean approval. Uh engagement is46 minutes, 39 seconds
not approval. There are very few countries in this world uh that have the standards of Canada that the rights of46 minutes, 46 seconds
Canada, the conviction of Canada, the constant I I think uh reinforcement of those rights so that all Canadians can live their lives as they choose.46 minutes, 57 seconds
We calibrate our relationships with countries uh based on a variety of factors, certainly strategic interest,47 minutes, 4 seconds
whether or not we're formal partners uh with them as Turkey is a formal partner of Canada in NATO. Um and one of the47 minutes, 13 seconds
most uh important geostrategic uh countries not just in this region but in this world. Um so we need to engage and47 minutes, 20 seconds
we do engage but that is not the uh it's there there is a distinction and uh47 minutes, 28 seconds
uh between the two and because we're engaged we are able to raise directly uh with the senior authorities in these47 minutes, 37 seconds
countries uh how we view the world uh and what our expectations are. Thank you.47 minutes, 42 seconds
All right. So you know that's what what we're up against. you can be very good on these things. How far do you need to47 minutes, 50 seconds
go in terms of relationships with the rest of the world?47 minutes, 53 seconds
Yeah. I mean, and we've had that issue in this country as well, right? Where we where, you know, how much pressure does our country push other countries on48 minutes, 2 seconds
human rights when we have this this administration certainly?48 minutes, 6 seconds
No, not this administration at all, but when we have this interdependent global infrastructure, economic infrastructure, healthcare infrastructure, um he's48 minutes, 15 seconds
destroyed a lot of that. So, we'll have to see what we do when we get, you know, all right. Uh, we want to note that the, uh, the when Dr. Jennifer Schuford was48 minutes, 24 seconds
appointed as the CDC's deputy director and chief medical officer, a lot of the normies at the CDC and even Dimmitri48 minutes, 31 seconds
Dascalakas, who had the gay doctor who had left the CDC uh, over over the administration, uh, they said she's very48 minutes, 39 seconds
encouraging sign. Well, she's quit after four months. Four months.48 minutes, 42 seconds
Just four months. I mean, and she's not saying why, but it would be good for her to speak out about what's going on there under RFK Jr.48 minutes, 49 seconds
Yeah. And, you know, [clears throat] we we wonder why she's not speaking up.48 minutes, 53 seconds
Like, what you know, there's got to be something that's causing her not to because you know, either you either you burn the bridge behind you or they're burning.49 minutes
We need more people burning bridges.49 minutes, 2 seconds
Well, I mean, uh, the Cassidy, Miss Cassidy, who testified against Trump, they tried to prosecute her. She was49 minutes, 9 seconds
very nervous about it, but they could not even get an indictment against her by the Justice Department. And by the way, Trump, speaking of health, Trump is49 minutes, 17 seconds
loosening the rules for oil firms on methane. And I mean, they're trying to kill us.49 minutes, 21 seconds
They're just trying to kill us to line their pockets. Yep. And they're doing it. Okay. Entertainment news. Yes.49 minutes, 29 seconds
Yes. Let's do it.49 minutes, 30 seconds
I cannot recommend highly enough the movie Elsidor, which is coming out to theaters November 15th. Andrew Scott. We49 minutes, 37 seconds
have Andrew Scott there and Olivia Coleman. He's playing the actor Ian Charlesson. Yes. A gay man who had AIDS49 minutes, 44 seconds
in 1989. Everybody was dying in those days. Very few people were surviving.49 minutes, 49 seconds
And he takes on the role of Hamlet. And I'm not going to tell you all about it.49 minutes, 53 seconds
And it certainly really brings you right back to that era. I'm going to post in the email a longer review that you can50 minutes
see. It's a wonderful cast. It's so moving. As I say, I cried through most of it. And Ian Charleston, he was a major actor, you know, he was in50 minutes, 7 seconds
chariot, he was a major actor. He was in chariot.50 minutes, 10 seconds
He was in Gandhi. Yes. He played Hesian in a miniseries about Alexander the Great.50 minutes, 15 seconds
Ian Charleston. We're talking about Charson. Yes.50 minutes, 17 seconds
And Andrew Scott is just he was one of the producers of this film as well. It is such a great job. And it was scripted50 minutes, 25 seconds
by Steven Barisford who wrote the movie in the musical of Pride which you can now see uh which I saw in London. And50 minutes, 32 seconds
you can see if you go over there starting November 12th at Nick Heitner the gate the bridge theater that he's50 minutes, 39 seconds
running there. And by the way uh Jennifer Han writing in the Irish Examiner writes that Andrew Scott is an Irish actor playing English Scottish50 minutes, 47 seconds
actor in Charleston dying of AIDS. And she interviewed my friend outgay Catholic priest Bernard Lynch about how many of the people who died alongside50 minutes, 56 seconds
Charleston in the AIDS wards in London were Irish. There was a huge number of Irish. They all had a they come to over because there wasn't the care. The care wasn't available in51 minutes, 4 seconds
that time at that time.51 minutes, 5 seconds
At that time, I mean, Ireland's so good. Completely different.51 minutes, 8 seconds
But back then, yeah, we're going to link to that in our email. And then how about this power couple? Uh yeah, Marlon James and Nicholas Bogs.51 minutes, 16 seconds
Well, Marlon James is the novelist who he's already won the Booker Prize for years ago for uh51 minutes, 24 seconds
A Brief History of Seven Killings, but he has a new novel out which I'm starting, The Disappearers about growing up. Sounds fascinating.51 minutes, 32 seconds
Homophobia in Jamaica basically. It's it's got the rave reviews and his partner husband51 minutes, 39 seconds
uh his partner anyway is uh guy named Nicholas Bogs who was and that and by the way the disappearers51 minutes, 47 seconds
is nominated for the Book Booker Prize again. And then this guy wrote Baldwin a love story a biography of James Baldwin51 minutes, 54 seconds
and that's nominated for it's nominated for a prestigious prize Bailey Gford prize for non-fiction. Yes.52 minutes, 1 second
