The ghost of Epstein lingers over royals’ White House visit

King Charles III and Queen Camilla are in Washington chumming it up with President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump, but this royal visit goes beyond sharing afternoon tea and touring the White House.
As Charles attempts to lessen tension between the United States and United Kingdom after the British government decided not to support Trump’s Iran war, another dark shadow looms over the meeting: Jeffrey Epstein.

While the British royal family decided to cast out Prince Andrew for his troubling ties to the infamous sex offender, the head of the monarchy will be sipping tea and admiring the new White House beehives with two people whose names appeared in the Epstein files thousands of times. Donald and Melania remain unscathed despite their past ties to the disgraced financier.
But that’s not the case across the pond.
Charles’ younger brother Prince Andrew was accused of forcing a 17-year-old Virginia Giuffre to have sex with him on Epstein’s private Caribbean island. According to her lawsuit against Andrew, which was later settled, she had sex with him multiple times between 1999 and 2002 on the island as well as in New York and London. Giuffre later died by suicide, and Andrew was stripped of his royal titles in October 2025.
But that’s not stopping royal family that ousted members linked to the accused sex trafficker from playing nice with people in the same shady circles.
Donald and Melania Trump’s names have been spotted more than 38,000 across the Epstein files, and Melania—who was a model before she married Donald—had many photo ops with their old acquaintance as well.
In fact, Charles and Camilla might cross paths with more than a few people connected to Epstein as they traverse the White House halls and attend a state dinner.

While the British royal family actually cut ties with Andrew as more evidence emerged, Trump’s White House seems to be looking for ways to delegitimize the evidence revealed in the Epstein files.
“This is a Democrat hoax that never ends,” Trump previously said, lambasting journalists’ questions about the files. Despite campaigning on promises to release the files, his tone changed once he was back in office and people on both sides of the aisle demanded to see the evidence.
Somewhere between the unveiling of a handwritten birthday card from Trump to Epstein and an email the convicted felon wrote claiming that Trump “knew about the girls,” the White House became less inclined to pursue justice.
So even as the British royals and wannabe American royals rub shoulders, the awkwardness is sure to be off the charts.
